The vacancy is located in Guamal, Meta with trips to the project’s areas of action. The position belongs to the area of natural resources and forest governance.

Hierarchical dependency

Under the general supervision of the FAO Representative in Colombia, the National Program Officer and the project coordinator, the missionary Technician in agricultural sciences will have the following responsibilities: Field of specialization

The missionary technician in agricultural sciences will be responsible for leading all fields of agricultural technical expertise.

Tasks and responsibilities

  •  Participate in the induction workshop event that carries out the project.
  •  Work in a comprehensive and articulated manner with the technical teams responsible for the project products.
  •  Based on a previous training process by FAO, it must implement the methodologies defined in the framework of the project.
  •  Participate in the socializations of the scope of the project in the intervention municipalities.
  •  Carry out the social, productive, environmental, communications and commercial characterization of producers through the survey of the baseline and georeferencing of each property.
  •  Support the formalization of the linkage of producer organizations and family ventures to the project.
  •  Carry out the gathering of secondary information that contributes to the preparation of a document on the productive potential and estimation of demand.
  •  Support the collection of primary technical information and productivity indicators, applying the Rural Entrepreneurship Measurement instrument ( MER ) and participate in workshops aimed at related organizations.
  •  Support the technical diagnosis of family ventures in order to determine investment prioritization.
  •  Support the development of the agribusiness model by production chains of the prioritized territories.
  •  Take samples of water and soil.
  •  Support the structuring of technical agribusiness models that allow improving production, taking into account Good Livestock Practices and Good Agricultural and Agroecological Practices, as applicable.
  •  Plan, organize and prepare the delivery of materials, supplies and tools for the implementation of technical agribusiness models.
  •  Schedule and carry out productive technical assistance visits, promoting the implementation of Good Livestock Practices and Good Agricultural and Agroecological Practices, as applicable.
  •  Carry out follow-up visits to the implementation of Good Livestock Practices and Good Agricultural and Agroecological Practices and support the systematization of results.
  •  Support the construction of training plans that promote technical skills in sustainable livestock, agroecology, soil conservation and business for producers of family organizations and ventures.
  •  Develop events for the implementation of a training program that promotes the technical and business skills of producers of individual Organizations and ventures.
  •  Accompany the development of the technology transfer strategy from producer to producer by production chain.
  •  Support the promotion of youth ties that strengthens the generational change in producer organizations and family ventures.
  •  Promote the development of tours of the exchange of knowledge and experiences with gender protocols.
  •  Provide support in the consolidation of results and lessons learned from the implementation of the training program in promoting technical and business skills of producers of family organizations and ventures.
  •  Support events for the socialization of identified financial services portfolios; promote links to the financial system with family organizations and ventures.
  •  Support in the identification of actions for the implementation of landscape management tools ( live fences, biological mini-corridors in crops and paddocks, forage banks, isolated trees in paddocks and births, among others ) for production lines.
  •  Promote the generation of environmental conservation agreements with producers of the Meta Food Supply Network.
  •  Identify and accompany the properties with potential for the implementation of fertilizer biophabrics with the use of by-products from the prioritized production lines.
  •  Encourage family businesses to complete records to determine production costs.
  •  Support family businesses in participating in commercial events carried out by the NETWORK.
  •  Promote the generation and dissemination of good gender practices in accordance with FAO’s gender equality policy.
  •  Support the development of methodologies, instruments, conceptual frameworks and contents for the Programmatic Area of Family Agriculture and Inclusive Markets.
  •  Support project formulation processes related to family farming ventures and markets, from a perspective of agro-industrial, logistical and food supply processes.
  •  The other tasks that are assigned by the coordination of the project, inherent to his position.
  •  Timely diligence at the time of withdrawal from the organization, the charge delivery certificate and, in the event of supervisory functions, follow up on the correct delivery of the position of the personnel in charge.
  •  Consult, study and appropriate the PROTOCOL FOR THE REPORT OF CASES OF EXPLOITATION AND SEXUAL ABUSE OF COMMUNITIES ( delivered by Human Management ) and report immediately, in accordance with it, the cases that are known to you. FAO Colombia has zero tolerances for any practice of sexual exploitation and abuse.

THE CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUED IN ARRANGE TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

Minimum requirements

  •  Zootechnical technicians / technologists, in livestock production, agricultural and / or related sciences.
  •  Minimum experience of four ( 4 ) years of work with small producers on issues related to: livestock, management of mixed forage banks and sustainable livestock.
  •  Experience in ICA regulations: health, safety, good livestock practices, animal welfare, among others.
  •  Practical knowledge of Spanish ( C level ) spoken and written.
  •  Colombian nationality.
