The position is open to :

Open to candidates residing in Tunisia or abroad. If necessary, the work permit will be provided by CVT’s Professional Employers Organization (OPE) which facilitates the obtaining of work permits, if necessary.

Organization :

The Centre for Victims of Torture (CVT) is working for a future where torture will cease to exist and victims will have hope for a new life. We are an international non-profit organization dedicated to the healing of survivors of torture. We provide rehabilitation services to people who have been tortured, we train partners around the world who can prevent and treat torture, and we, and we stand up for human rights and advocate an end to torture. Our headquarters are in Minnesota, and we have offices in the United States in Georgia and Washington, as well as offices in Africa and the Middle East.

Responsibilities :

  • Clinical Documentation: Support the development of clinical documentation that supports ethical clinical practices and responds to best clinical practices.
  • Clinical Supervision: Support the partner organization in the development of a structure and a supervisory approach.
  • Capacity-building training : Design and implement capacity-building training programmes for staff in SMSPS programmes, including formal training sessions. Continuously assess the development of SMSPS service providers and tailor training to meet their needs.
  • Reports : Write and submit regular reports on clinical and training activities.
  • Other tasks : Participate in other activities, meetings and training related to the program and the entire organization. Carry out administrative responsibilities such as expense reports. Collect, analyze and share relevant information in connection with the SMSPS based on identified needs. Contribute to the implementation of the activities planned in the framework of the joint project with the, CVT Fostering reflection on the strategy and positioning of the Mental Health sector psychosocial support (MHPSS). Carry out other tasks entrusted to him.

Qualifications :

Training, experience, certificates, or licenses required

  • Advanced university degree (master level or higher) in psychiatry or clinical psychology
  • 10 Years of experience in providing mental health and psychosocial support services to various target groups, including survivors of torture and trauma, adults, and, families and teenagers alike.
  • 8 Years of experience in organizing training on SMSPS-related topics for participants with different professional backgrounds and knowledge
  • Experience in working with local NGOs and negotiating multiple relationships within and between organizations
  • 6 Years of experience in writing SMSPS documents (such as guidelines, manuals, unified approaches, etc.)
  • Experience of’at least 3 years in the context of humanitarian emergency’
  • Knowledge of psychological interventions aimed at dealing with trauma in individuals and families
  • 6 Years of’ experience in management and supervision of’ team on mental health and psychosocial support
  • Experience in the assessment of needs, the development and evaluation of programs, and reporting

Training, experience, certificates, or desirable licenses or registrations

  • 12 Years of experience in the provision of mental health services and psychosocial support
  • 10 Years of experience supervising SMSPS practitioners
  • Good knowledge of social work or in a related field

Work/life experience in Tunisia desirable

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Specialist will provide technical support to develop and strengthen the quality of mental health and psychosocial support services provided by a national NGO to survivors of human rights violations (including torture) and victims of community violence. The MHPSS Specialist’s primary function will be to build the capacity of the center to better meet the MHPSS needs of its beneficiaries. Activities include assessment, development and implementation of capacity building training, capacity building in clinical supervision, design and implementation of clinical interventions, supporting workforce development, program evaluation and community collaboration.

This position focuses on developing the MHPSS program and training and building the capacity of MHPSS staff to deliver clinical services. It does not provide direct services to beneficiaries.

Helping Survivors Heal is a capacity development project which supports the mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) work of 12 torture rehabilitation organizations around the world by providing subgrants and technical assistance.

Collect, analyze and share relevant MHPSS information as required. Contribute to the implementation of activities planned within the framework of the joint project with CVT/HSH. Contribute to the reflection on the strategy and positioning of the mental health and psychosocial support sector. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 10 Years of experience providing mental health/psychosocial support services to a variety of target groups including torture and trauma survivors, adults, families, and adolescents
  • 8 Years’ experience in organizing training on MHPSS-related topics for participants with different professional backgrounds and knowledge
  • Experience of working with local NGOs and negotiating multiple relationships within and between organizations
  • 6 Years’ experience in drafting MHPSS documents (such as guidelines, manuals, unified approaches, etc.)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a humanitarian emergency context
  • Knowledge of psychological interventions to treat trauma in individuals and families
  • 6 Years’ experience in management and supervision of mental health and psychosocial support teams
  • Experience in needs assessment, program development, evaluation and reporting

Preferred education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations
