Medical Training Design Officer· H/F At Doctors Without Borders


Doctors Without Borders, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened : mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from care. The French section is present in about thirty countries.

We are looking for a Medical Training Design Officer.

Mission :

3 Projects to create new training in the medical department were considered as priority training for 2024.

As a result of the strategic plan, the adaptation of resources to improve the’accueil and’integration of people newly arrived at MSF or first time on their post has been set as a priority axis. In this context, the profession of medical coordinator was the’object of’a pilot. The L&D unit under the guidance of colleagues in the medical department worked on the creation of a TEMBO course that would allow a better induction of future coordinators. This project is currently being implemented.

Two other projects are to be developed with the referents of the medical department :

  • Training aimed at improving the induction of newly recruited pharmacists by MSF and training for first-time staff at the post of « co-pharmacist » ;
  • Technical training for laboratory personnel in order to improve the quality of these activities.

The· Design Officer will be in charge of the creation of the contents and supports of these training courses and/or/or to help the referent closely to create the content of the training (depending on the project), respecting the objectives previously defined. This work is done in close collaboration with the Field Training Coordinator and the professional referents of the medical department.

Your main activities :

Under the hierarchical responsibility of the Terrain Med/Ops Training Coordinators, you assume the role of project manager :

Centralize stakeholder input and develop training :

  • Validate’learning objectives with the different stakeholders
  • Define the key messages and develop the training content according to the educational objectives with the’active contribution of the trades (cells, Pool Managers and courses, business references, etc…) with a view to ensuring the quality of the content and their adherence to training
  • Contribute to the choice of the most appropriate pedagogical techniques
  • Design all training documents and/or directly support the referent for the creation (depending on the project) for learners and facilitators (Planning and course of training, etc, facilitator’s guide, training materials, teaching materials & documents, e-learning modules),
  • Define educational equipment and materials useful for training

Organize pilot training sessions :

  • Identify target people or fields to test training (CoMED induction, Pharma E-essential 1 & 2, laboratory training).
  • Organize the pilot training project (online),
  • Support the referent in the implementation of the pilot session, and,
  • Propose a system of’ evaluation of training according to the methods and tools in force.

Readjust the training to develop its final version :

  • Carry out the necessary readjustments to launch the dissemination of training,
  • Finalize and organize the’ set of documents in order to have a reproducible training (turnkey training),
  • Proofreading and validation of translations in english (or french) of the’ set of modules « online », documents and training tools.

Propose a communication strategy to disseminate training developed during this project in order to REACH a maximum of target person on the ground.

Possible activities of’emploi :

  • The· Design Training Officer may also be asked to work on’ other projects for the creation of MED or Ops training, if the priorities are adapted in 2024 according to needs.

Profile sought :

• University level of minimum 3 years or equivalent,

• At least 2 international experiences in 2 different countries in the field of medical, with MSF, or another NGO is indispensable,

• Experience as a trainer is highly recommended,

• Training in pedagogy and/or adult education is desirable,

• Experience in setting up training projects is desirable.

Qualities required :

• Editorial ability,

• Mastery of project management,

• Master the technical knowledge of his field of work,

• Autonomy, ability to cooperate, rigor, qualities of’ and synthesis, etc,

• Bon relational, capacity d’adaptation, sens de l’organisation.

Languages : You speak and write fluent French and’english (B2).

Status : 6 Months full-time CDD. Post based in Paris, metro Jaures. Possible remote under conditions.

Conditions :

43,31K€ gross annual over 13 months.

22 Days of RTT per year. Complementary health care 100% supported by Doctors Without Borders. Titles restaurants d’a face value of 11€ (60% support by Doctors Without Borders). Support for 50% of the public transport ticket.
