MEAL Coordinator At Action against Hunger Spain


You will contribute to ending world hunger by …

Responsible for strengthening and harmonizing approaches to monitoring, developing tools and common standards at all bases, planning and implementing monitoring and review activities, planning and management of external evaluations, as well as liaison with sectoral and geographic leaders on monitoring and harmonization of standards. Accompany and strengthen the MEAL capabilities of the mission and local partners for the use of evidence (data and reports) in technical and operational decision-making, and facilitate internal and external coordination.

In coordination with the technical team, supports during the project cycle in the identification and evaluation of needs, the monitoring of activities, accountability to beneficiaries and donors through information management and analysis, producing reports and evaluations. He is responsible for guiding the development of information products based on data, graphs, maps and others that support evidence for the identification of scenarios and technical and operational decision-making.

Leads file management and mission information repository systems.

The main activities you will carry out are the following:

Objective 1: Coordinate the department, processes and activities of Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEAL).

  • It guarantees the timely and adequate management of information and data analysis. Coordinates quantitative and qualitative analytical mission studies and processes, including baseline, baseline, assessment, vulnerability analysis, post-distribution monitoring, reports and evaluations.
  • Design the corresponding tools under quantitative and qualitative methodologies for the collection, processing and analysis of information.
  • Develops, in coordination with the technical team, the methodology, the plan, the tools, the monitoring, and the analysis of the monitoring and evaluation of the activities of the projects and carrying out field visits for their supervision. Analyze the information collected, and prepare different products for communication, with different target audiences ( internal and external ).
  • Supports and / or leads the preparation of technical studies, exploratory missions, positioning documents. Coordinates the MEAL team to guarantee the support and resources necessary for the performance of their functions according to the required quality compliance standards.

Goal 2: Capacity development and contribution to quality standards. Strengthens the technical capabilities of the mission’s MEAL team and local partners.

  • Defines an internal and external training plan with specific quarterly objectives and implements it.
  • Development of monitoring and information and project management systems and tools in Venezuela, creating and updating them permanently.
  • Provides technical assistance and promotes training activities for the partners’ MEAL team on new processes or tools.

Goal 3: Accountability and learning. Ensures that each partner implements a feedback mechanism for beneficiaries harmonized with those of ACH.

  • It ensures that MEAL information has the participation of the target communities and facilitates the return of information to the communities and in a popular language.
  • Actively participates in the design and implementation of strategies and activities for knowledge management and lessons learned exercises.
  • Participate in meetings, Working Groups and forums, ensuring coordination and communication on tools, processes and problem solving.

Objective 4: Security management: Abide by the mission’s security plan and ensure compliance with the plan in the team in charge.

  • Perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in your protocols. Communicate to workplace security managers any information related to safety or non-compliance with the security plan.

Does this description fit with you?

  • University professional preferably in the areas of social sciences, statistics, international or economic relations with specialization in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in project cycle management, research, data collection and management, and knowledge of quantitative / qualitative analysis of activities, programs, and humanitarian context.
  • Solid writing and analytical skills. Production of briefing notes, donor and status reports, and charts and visual products.
  • 3 years, minimum, in the humanitarian sector, in MEAL areas, information management and / management of humanitarian projects.
  • Desirable: experience working with partners / partners for capacity development.
  • Languages: oral and written fluency in Spanish is required. Desirable middle level of spoken and written English.
  • Windows domain: essential advanced handling of Word, Excel, and Power Point, email and internet management for research activities.
  • Handling of tools such as Kobo and PowerBI; ArcGIS or similar (desirable). Communication Tool Handling: Adobe Powerpoint, InDesign and Illustrator (desirable).

    3. Per Diem of 215 euros for each Break Trip ( paid in Mission ).
