Market Intelligence Specialist (Healthcare Procurement) At UNOPS


UNOPS Guatemala is looking for a Market Intelligence Specialist (Health Procurement).

Under the supervision of the Deputy Project Manager (Health and Medicines), the Market Intelligence Specialist will be responsible for carrying out the following activities, without being limited exclusively to them:

Main tasks:

  • Participate and collaborate with the regional Health Procurement Intelligence Unit initiative in supporting comprehensive market intelligence solutions for procurement projects in the region.
  • Conceptualize the market intelligence model for the Guatemalan Health Services System, such as the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance.
  • Identify health market structures in Guatemala.
  • Develop tools to obtain timely and accurate data on costs and prices of the market for medical supplies (medicines, surgical medical supplies and medical equipment, among others), and medical services (hospitalization, specialties, diagnostic tests, among others) aimed at achieving of the institutional strategy.
  • Investigate and identify sources of public, reliable and updated information on medical and other supplies and services in the area of ​​health insurance.
  • Together with the associate(s), create market intelligence tools that allow Senior Management to make decisions.
  • Design the indicators of the main information demands required by the Associate.
  • Classify and systematize the information, considering transaction volumes, origin of sources (Guatemala and other countries), validity of prices, similarity of specifications, types of contract, among others that determine the estimated budgets of the Project before bidding, and during, allow the reasonableness of the prices offered to be evaluated.
  • Other additional duties designated by the supervisor.

Specific activities:

  • Develop processes, procedures, technical instruments and pricing policies for the development of market intelligence and decision-making processes.
  • Develop as the main product a data collection tool that includes, among others: prices, products, and both local and international suppliers, which serves as a source of information for decision making.
  • Develop, together with the executive team, investment validation and analysis processes under the modality of economic and financial evaluation for the projects guided by the Associate’s Management.
  • Accompany the associate in the evaluation of risks in project investments, purchases of goods and services which are required by Senior Management.
  • Other assigned activities related to the position by your supervisor.

Requirements:

Education

  • A master’s degree is required, preferably in areas of Economic Sciences, Social Sciences or another relevant area.
  • Candidates who provide a bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned disciplines will be considered, provided they prove additional years of experience.

Experience

  • 5 to 7 years of experience (according to the academic degree provided) of experience in research and market intelligence in the health sector, preferably in Latin America, is required.
  • Experience in analyzing statistical data from the pharmaceutical market, preferably applying data science and machine learning techniques.
  • Advanced Excel and/or business intelligence tools (for example: Qlik View, Qlik Sense, OBI, Power BI, Tableau, among others).

Will Be Valued:

  • Experience in financial analysis focused on costs, benefits and risk, decision making.
  • Experience in health insurance administration and management.
  • Experience in public health procurement.
  • Knowledge in health economics.

Languages

  • Advanced knowledge of the Spanish language.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the English language will be valued.
