The World Food Program ( WFP ) of the United Nations is the largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger in the world. WFP’s mission is to help the world achieve zero hunger. Every day, WFP works around the world to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, especially women and children, can have access to the nutritious food they need.

CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE MISSION:

In Mali, the World Food Program ( WFP ) provides assistance in the form of cash transfers to nearly one million beneficiaries to help them meet their basic food needs. The cash transfer program is provided through various direct cash, good paper, electronic vouchers, money mobile, … ( mechanisms.

In 2020, the World Food Program ( WFP ) in Mali provided approximately US $ 57 million in cash transfers ( CBT ) to one million beneficiaries. The CBT modality is used in several activities, particularly in general food distributions, in resilience and asset creation activities, in nutrition as well as in social protection. CBT is currently delivered through paper vouchers, direct cash and mobile money. WFP Mali has just launched a large-scale digitization initiative in 2021 to digitize all beneficiary data to facilitate transaction monitoring and the automated reconciliation process.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education:

– Hold a secondary school diploma in the fields of management computing, telecommunications, computer programming or a related field

Experience : – Have at least Six ( 6 ) years of relevant experience in a similar position – Be equipped with the ability to perform IT network, telephony and VSAT management activities – Able to provide ad hoc guidance to a wide range of personnel – Have experience in the configuration and deployment of CISCO system ( would be an asset ) – Previous experience of an NGO, the UN, or an international organization would be an asset.

Knowledge and Skills : -Knowledge of standard ERP systems such as SAP or other UN / MAP software packages and systems; – Active CISCO certification – VSAT installation and maintenance certification – General knowledge of policies, rules, regulations and procedures governing the administration and management of UN system technology is desirable.

Languages : – Mastery of French ( level C ) and intermediate knowledge ( level B ) of English.

BODIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These positions are located in country offices, regional offices or at Headquarters. The incidents report to the Head of Unit, the Head of Service or the IT Solutions Developer. Incumbents at this level are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to questions when they only have general guidance. They must exercise good judgment to manage the unexpected on a daily basis.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Provide technical support in the development, maintenance, testing and installation of part of the IT solutions in accordance with operational needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ( non-exhaustive )

  •  Write code to assist in the development and installation of efficient and effective IT solution components.
  •  Keep up-to-date the technical documentation relating to the IT solutions developed to facilitate the maintenance of the systems.
  •  Perform unit or integrated tests of new lines of code, improvements introduced in existing code or fixes to it to ensure that nothing is missing and that the code complies with technical specifications.
  •  Assist in the installation, configuration and customization of IT systems ensuring compliance with WFP IT standards, guidelines and procedures.
  •  Assist in editing IT systems and provide start-up assistance, to prepare for the go-live of the solution and enable its proper use.
  •  Independently answer to user questions, escalating as needed, to ensure common IT questions are answered and accurate information is communicated.
  •  Assist in the preparation of materials and the organization of training on automated operating procedures to enable efficient and effective use of computer systems.
  •  Collecting and aggregating data and conducting simple analysis to assist in the development of accurate reports.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is a Service Contract ( SC ) for a period of 12 Months.
