ITS Vice Presidency Context:

Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations.

Our vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group.

ITS shapes its strategy in response to changing business priorities and leverages new technologies to achieve three high-level business outcomes: business enablement, by providing Bank Group units with innovative digital tools and technologies to transform how they deliver value for their clients; empowerment & effectiveness, by ensuring that all Bank Group staff are connected, able to find information, and productive to accelerate the delivery of development solutions globally; and resilience, by equipping the Bank Group to provide risk-based cybersecurity and robust data protection for a global network and a growing cloud platform.

Implementation of the strategy is guided by three core principles. The first is to deliver solutions for business partners that are customer-centric, innovative, and transformative. The second is to provide the Bank Group with value for money with selective and standard technologies. The third principle is to excel at the basics by providing a high performing, robust, and resilient IT environment for the organization.

The ITS Enterprise Services department, ITSEN, provides a wide range of technical services, ranging from data centers and system administration, to database, middleware, cloud and Identity management. The department consists of two units (ITSIA and ITSSM) which are in Washington, DC; Chennai, India; and in Sofia, Bulgaria.

ITSIA (ITS Identity and Application Service) unit, provides enterprise system integration support, for both on-prem and cloud (Azure/AWS), for ITS and its clients.

This position is to manage critical services for middleware technologies, that includes, but not limited to -Enterprise Service Bus (MuleSoft ESB) and API Gateway (Apigee, Azure and AWS).

Responsibilities:

  •  As an independent contributor, you will be responsible to provide infrastructure and operations support for both on-premises and cloud services.
  •  Automate using IaC, every activity of the infrastructure management– create, check, modify and delete, and upgrade versions, as recommended by the vendor to future proof.
  •  Adopt Site Reliability Engineer practices into the work.
  •  Document, peer-review changes. Effectively communicate changes with colleagues in Chennai, Sofia and HQ, and other stakeholders including but not limited to Enterprise Change Review Board, Office of the Information Security, and Enterprise Architecture.
  •  Work with stakeholders to define integration services and solutions for integration requirements for various systems and cloud hosted solutions.
  •  Collaborates with staff and contractors in their area of expertise.
  •  When provided with an objective to improve performance -develops and implements action plans needed to effect the change.
  •  Creates technical blueprints, translating logical architecture into physical specifications. Directs and oversees the implementation effort.
  •  Manages day to day relationship with vendors supporting their elements of the infrastructure including negotiating acquisitions within the scope of an existing service agreement or contract.
  •  Assesses demand for their service or technology area and develops plans to meet future capacity needs and makes recommendations to the manager.
  •  Provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members.

Selection Criteria

  •  Master’s degree with 5 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •  Experience in the integration platforms – MuleSoft ESB (version 3, 4 and RTF) in a large enterprise, is a must.
  •  Experience using integration platforms with ERP systems and cloud services, is a must.
  •  Strong development experience with Java, Python, JavaScript.
  •  Experience in Apigee – as Administrator and/or developer, to manage, monitor and troubleshoot, is a plus.
  •  Experience in platforms automation through pipelines for Operational excellence, is a plus.
  •  Demonstrated experience in containers and its orchestration.
  •  Strong knowledge in IaC, SRE and DevOps principles, Microservices and API-led connectivity.

  •  Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
