INTERNSHIP FOR A TECHNICO-ECONOMIC STUDY ON LEGUMINOUS CULTURES At Inter Help

Who are we ? :

Inter Aide is an association specialized in the realization of concrete programs of’aide au developpement, conducted with particularly deprived families living in rural areas.

In 2023, Inter Aide manages 51 programmes in seven countries (Ethiopia, Guinea, Haiti, Malawi, Madagascar, Mozambique and Sierra Leone). Inter Aide has been working with rural communities in Malawi since 1992. The’association is present in 10 of the 28 districts of the country, in Central and South regions.

Inter Aide is looking for a trainee (e) to complete the technical and economic elements already obtained on the crops of’arachide and soybeans to better understand the issues around their culture for families small farmers, and to make data sheets to better model the effects of the’ adoption of these crops.

The mission :

You will be based(e) in rural areas in the village of Mitundu, with frequent trips to villages located about 30 km from the track. Your activities will be supervised by the head of the Mitundu agricultural programme, and by the Lilongwe-based Sector Manager, both agronomists. The project has 2 employees responsible for monitoring and evaluation (1 investigator and 1 supervisor). You will be required(e) to accompany team members on the ground and they will be able to translate conversations from the local language (the Chichewa) into English.

As such, you will provide your support as follows :

• In the realization of’an inventory of existing and missing data ;
• The definition of’a work plan for the collection of missing data and the precise content of the final renderings of the’technico-economic study ;
• The implementation of protocols and’tools for the realization of’complementary surveys and the conduct of’ surveys among the families of’agriculturers ;
• L’ support for the processing and the’analysis of data collected in the field ;
• L’organisation of’working and restitution workshops with project technicians ;
• The production of technical and economic data sheets ;
• The revision of the training tools and manuals for the teams and the villagers ;
• The realization of’a internship report.

Profile sought :

• You are a student(e) looking for a final internship’ studies : level Master of agricultural development (agronomist engineer) ;
• You have advanced notions in’ methodseconomic analyses of crop systems, agrarian diagnostics, etc ;
• You master’anglais level B2 (oral and written) ;
• You have skills of’ listening and teamwork ;
• You have a taste for the terrain, you are dynamic and flexible ;
• You are resistant(e) to the’ cultural and social isolation.
