Intern in Fundraising for’unity philanthropy At Doctors Without Borders in Switzerland


Duration depending on the tripartite internship agreement : 6 to 12 months at 100%

This internship is part of an academic training program, a vocational training program or a socio-professional integration program and must meet the needs of conditions established by the labour market surveillance council (CSME).

Context & Mission

Doctors Without Borders is an independent international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, to persons affected by natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, religion, religion, religion, or, beliefs or political affiliation (MFD Charter).

L’unity Philanthropy is one of the 6 business units of the Department of Communication and Fund Research. Composed of 17 people, it raised more than CHF 70 million last year from’ individuals, foundations,’companies and Cantons/Communes.

Le-la Intern in Fundraising will work closely with all members of the’unit Philanthropy, with members of the Communication and Fund Research department as well as those of other MSF departments.

Main responsibilities

Support for Fund Research activities

  • Update of the database according to new information (addresses, tel, email, etc.)
  • Writing and processing of thank you letters
  • Help with the follow-up of contact portfolios (cantons/municipalities, companies, foundations, etc.)
  • Punctual support to’organisation d’events
  • Telephone contacts with selected donors for ad hoc projects
  • Support for loyalty and reactivation activities of the various targets
  • Participation in the prospection of’specific information on major donors (companies, foundations, individuals, and cantons/municipalities)
  • Translation and proofreading support French/English (other desirable languages)
  • Help with the writing and proofreading of files, calls for funds (proposals), reports and PowerPoint presentations for major donors

Administrative support

  • Support for follow-up of donations
  • Participation and rendering of the PV of the meetings of the cell
  • Preparation of micro-mailings (formatting, direct mail, sending)
  • Help with recruiting the next trainee

Profile sought

  • Training at university level
  • Be eligible for an internship agreement with a third party
  • Experience in associative and/or humanitarian environments is an asset
  • Previous experience (internship or other) welcome
  • Proficiency in the usual computer tools (suite MS Office, 365)
  • Experience in CRM, a plus
  • French and English : Excellent Mastery
  • Knowledge of’German and’Italian: a plus
  • Proactivity, autonomy,’initiative spirit, rigor and a sense of’organisation
  • Good capacity of’adaptation to a multicultural working environment

Working conditions

  • Compulsory tripartite internship agreement
  • Internship 6 to 12 months at 100% (depending on the internship agreement)
  • Based in Geneva
  • Date of’starting : As soon as possible
  • Gross monthly remuneration: CHF 2’000.-
