Organizational Setting
The Regional Office for the Near East and North Africa (RNE) is responsible for leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture, and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO’s priority activities in the region. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the FAO in the Region and, in collaboration with departments and divisions at Headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO’s strategic response to regional priorities. RNE also advises on the incorporation of regional priorities into the Organization’s Programme of Work and Budget and implements approved programmes and projects in the region, monitors the level of programme implementation and draws attention to problems and deficiencies RNE develops and maintains relations with region-wide institutions including the Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs).
Reporting Lines
The Human Resources Specialist is directly reporting to the Regional Human Resources Officer.
Technical Focus
The Consultant/PSA will provide support, in human resources matters to RNE regional, subregional and country offices
Tasks and responsibilities
- Provide operational support to the HR unit and assist in various HR functions.
- Ensure smooth coordination of HR activities and timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Monitor and manage HR-related inboxes, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and forwarding messages to the appropriate individuals or offices.
- Track and monitor the completion of HR tasks and activities, ensuring adherence to established timelines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and reporting any delays or issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records, including employee files, and other relevant documentation.
- Update and maintain HR databases and systems, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prepare HR-related correspondence, including letters, memos, and reports, as assigned by the supervisor.
- Support the coordination of HR-related meetings, workshops, and training sessions, including scheduling, logistics coordination, and preparation of materials.
- Support the recruitment cycle of all type of employees.
- Assist in the management of employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including preparing documentation, coordinating orientations, and exit procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Stay updated on relevant HR policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and provide accurate information to staff and stakeholders.
- Perform other HR related duties as requested by HR Officer.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in Human Resources, Management, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Development, Public or Business Administration or another relevant field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in Human Resources and Administration.
- Working knowledge (level C) of English and limited knowledge (level B) of one of the other FAO languages for Consultants. Working knowledge (level C) of English is required for PSAs.
