The Accelerating Control for HIV Epidemic Project (ACE) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is a 5 Year funded project implemented in Akwa Ibom & Cross River States. Implementation is targeted at achieving epidemic control thereby reducing transmission and improving the quality of life of those living with HIV.

Job Summary

  • HIV Specialist will provide technical support at state level to implement high quality care, treatment and support activities with primary focus on technical areas of comprehensive TB and HIV/AIDS programs including laboratory, pharmacy, logistics, prevention, care, treatment, TB, RMNCH, mitigation, monitoring and evaluation.

Job Requirements

Education

  • MB.BS / MD / PhD or similar degree
    • MPH or MS/MA in relevant degree
    • BS/BA in pharmacy, microbiology, health sciences, monitoring and evaluation, public health or in relevant degree

Attributes:

  • 3 to 7 Years’ progressive relevant experience managing comprehensive HIV and TB programs in resource constrained settings.
    • Experience in project development with proven experience in the planning ad facilitation of training is required.
    • Experience in large and complex donor-funded national health focused project is an added advantage.
    • Familiarity with Nigerian public sector health systems and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable.
    • Excellent command of written and spoken English
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Willingness to extend working hours to meet deadlines and at short notice
    • Ability to function effectively in multi-disciplinary teams to produce excellent results under pressure
    • Ability to use key computing applications e g MS Office Suite etc and knowledge of different database (DHIS or LAMIS) is a plus.

Reporting/Supervision 

This position reports to the Senior Technical Advisor – Pharmacy

Job Summary

  • Under the supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor – Pharmacy will provide technical and programmatic support in strengthening pharmacy systems and building pharmacist’s capacity on Best Practices in the provision of pharmaceutical care for anti-retroviral therapy, prevention of mother to child transmission and tuberculosis including inventory management and other related services at community and hospital pharmacies.
    • Will support capacity building of pharmacy staff to deliver high quality services for HIV, TB/HIV and TB within supported health facilities and in the community.

Job Requirements

Education

  • University Degree in Bachelors of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D)
    • Msc/MPH in Public Health or related field

Attributes:

  • 10 years post qualification experience
    • 5 years relevant experience in HIV/AIDS with international pharmacy development programs
    • Experience in HIV/AIDS Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Proficiency in MS Access, SPSS, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point and other Office packages.
    • Proficiency in the use of email and internet.
    • Fluency in English; excellent communication and report writing skills required.
