Head of projects at headquarters At Women for Africa


At the Women for Africa Foundation, we are looking for a person responsible for senior projects with solid technical experience in the design, monitoring and justification of projects in the field of cooperation and / or humanitarian action, with a focus on countries of the African Continent and a gender focus; to help us ensure the quality of development cooperation projects and develop them, prioritizing and ensuring the coherence of approaches and synergies with other themes and the alignments of the Foundation.

OBJECTIVE: Ensure the diversification of financing sources, the qualitative development of projects, their coordination and economic-financial management according to the requirements, procedures and tools of the donors and the Foundation.

Depending on the General Directorate in Madrid and in coordination with:

– the Financial Department,

– those responsible for sectors and the different projects at headquarters,

– the expat on the ground

– local partners of Women for Africa

FUNCTIONS:

Technical and strategic support to the Directorate:

  1. Support in the strategic planning of the Foundation
  2. Support in the annual planning of the different Women for Africa programs (national, European and international), aligned with the Foundation’s annual Action Plan and harmonizing the proposed approaches and lines of action between terrain and headquarters.
  3. Preparation and / or coordination of strategic documentation: annual report of activities, thematic and / or sectoral strategies, etc.
  4. Updating and / or preparing manuals as well as strategic documents and planning and management tools for projects and procedures.
  5. Support in the identification of new cooperation and education actions aligned with the Foundation’s strategy.
  6. Management support and / or advice on relations and procedures with international cooperation institutions and networks such as NGDO registries or state and regional coordinators.
  7. Management of the selection and incorporation processes of technical personnel.

Technical and economic-financial coordination of programs:

  1. Act as a technical reference for the Foundation
  2. Coordination with donor partners and institutions (public and / or private)
  3. Guarantee the monitoring and fulfillment of all the commitments acquired with the entities and institutions involved in the programs.
  4. Follow up on projects / programs, according to regulations, procedures and use of management tools.
  5. Ensure management control of the Foundation’s interventions.
  6. Ensure and follow up on the income and expenses imputed to the projects, ensuring the reconciliation of the financial and accounting data of the interventions.
  7. Ensure that the requirements are understood and applied by the project team, supporting and monitoring said team remotely and in person.
  8. Coordinate the audit processes and ensure the return and dissemination of results and recommendations.
  9. Co-elaborate the narrative and economic reports of the projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures.
  10. Analyze and respond in a timely manner to donor requirements for justification.
  11. Any other function, typical of your professional category, that is entrusted to you by your immediate manager

Resource mobilization:

  1. Monitoring of the central, autonomous cooperation agenda and other funders.
  2. Explore and promote the search for financing opportunities aligned with the Foundation’s strategy with local and / or regional and / or international financing lines within public and private spheres.
  3. Participate and coordinate the identification and formulation of new development and / or co-financing proposals for ongoing projects.

Requirements: The required profile is of a person with a university degree with financial economic technical knowledge and experience in project and grant management. Motivated and close to the third sector, which is identified with the values promoted by the Foundation.

REQUIRED TRAINING

  • University degree preferably in the fields of Political Science, Sociology, Law, Economic Sciences, finance and accounting, business administration and management, etc.
  • Essential command of the following languages: Spanish; French: B2, English: C1
  • Use of tools at a professional level: Ophymatic. Excel Management

REQUESTED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of at least 5 years in coordination and justification of projects and subsidies in Development Cooperation and / or Humanitarian Action.
  • Solid knowledge of project formulation methodologies (Logical framework), project management and evaluation.
  • Experience in economic-financial project management (treasury and budget control)
  • Experience in coordination / management of projects financed by AECID
  • Coordination, planning, training and team management experience

It is valued:

  • Complementary training: Master in International Cooperation or International Relations.
  • Specialized training or experience in any of the subjects related to Peace and Security, Blue Economy, Innovation, community participation processes, gender equality, climate justice or any other sector of intervention of the Foundation.
  • Knowledge of regulations of Decentralized Cooperation; other budget lines of the European Union; philanthropic funds and / or companies with corporate social responsibility.
  • Training in Monitoring and Economic Justification of Social and / or humanitarian Programs.
  • Knowledge in the focus of human rights, gender and the environment.
  • Experience in formulation and / or management of projects with European funds and / or from international organizations and the private sector.
  • Management in digital tools for project management.

Other conditions of the position:

  • Full dedication: 40 hours / week (one day per week of teleworking)
  • Indefinite contract with 3-6 months of trial period
  • Salary according to the organization’s salary policy and depending on the candidate’s experience
  • Planned incorporation: Immediate
