Grants Manager Northeast Syria At Médicos del Mundo


The Grants Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating the proposals, writing, grants follow-up, reporting and compliance at field level in line with MdM and donor standards.

Geographical scope of intervention

The successful candidate will be based in North-East Syria with travels to MdM base in Dohuk (KRG).

Organisation chart

The successful candidate will be part of the coordination mission team and will report directly to the Country Coordinator.

Functions

Grant Proposal Development: With the support of the coordination team and HQ technical referent, lead the development of grant proposals, concept notes, amendments requests, and project applications for funding opportunities from donors. Ensure that all documents are in lines with donor and MdM standards and submitted it a timely manner. Continuously update donor mapping in the area of intervention and inform his/her manager of any funding opportunities.

Grants follow-up: In close collaboration with the rest of the team, closely follow-up on all grants to ensure objectives, activities and indicators are met, as per the project proposals and contractual obligations. In case of deviation and/or expected delays, immediately alert the coordination team and propose necessary adjustments.

Reporting: Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and finalization of donor reports and internal reports ensuring compliance with reporting requirements of MDM and donors. Ensure tracking and archiving of sources of verification, progress trackers, and other project related documents.

Research and assessments: Support the team and contribute to needs assessments in the area of intervention and propose necessary adjustments to the program in collaboration with the key positions in the mission.

Collaboration with Program Teams: Collaborate closely with other coordinators, and field managers to gather necessary information, data, and insights to inform grant proposals and ensure alignment with project objectives.

Budget Development: Work with finance and program staff to develop comprehensive project budgets that align with proposal narratives and donor guidelines.

Compliance and Due Diligence: Ensure that all grant proposals, reports, and related documentation adhere to donor regulations, legal requirements, and the organization’s policies and procedures, and is properly stored and available when required.

Capacity Building: Train and mentor staff members involved in grant writing and reporting, fostering a culture of proposal development, and fundraising within the organization.

Knowledge Sharing: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising, sharing knowledge and insights with colleagues and management.

Minimum requirements

Academic background:

Master’s degree in international development, gender studies, public health, and/or Humanitarian Aid, or other relevant fields.

Desirable: Strong knowledge of project cycle management, international humanitarian funding system.

Requirements

Language: Excellent written and spoken English. Arabic, Kurdish and/or Spanish is an asset.

Computer requirements: – Office pack user level.

Experience

At least 3 years field experience in humanitarian projects. At least 2 years’ experience in positions with similar responsibility in fragile context crisis, preferably in the Middle East and/or conflict environment.

Experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Familiarity with donor regulations and requirements, preferably including GFFO, ECHO, BHA, BMZ, AECID and others.

Previous experience with health programming.

Demonstrable leadership and team management skills.

Proven skills and experience in report and proposal development and working with multiple donors.

Ability to work in volatile environments and strict compliance with security protocols
