WHAT WE DO …

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an association of’ international humanitarian aid which, for more than 40 years, has been providing relief to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to the vital needs of, drinking, eating, s’abriter. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases related to unhealthy’, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions an expertise in the field of’access to drinking’water,’sanitation and the promotion of hygiene but also in that, essential, food security and means of’. Present in more than 20 countries, the SI teams, 2500 people in total, composed of’expatriates, national staffs, permanent staff at headquarters, some volunteers…intervene with professionalism and commitment in respect of cultures.

THE MISSION

Since March 2020, SI has been working in France to respond to the COVID 19 health crisis in four territories. Our projects are aimed at the public living in degraded’habitats sites such as slums, camps or squats and having in particular limited access to basic services, in terms of’ potable water,’ sanitation, etc, and’access to the products of’ hygiene of first necessity. In times of health crisis, « non-connected » people are more vulnerable and have, more than ever, need of’ access to these services Water Hygiene and Sanitation to be able to apply barrier gestures and improve their living conditions.

JOB DESCRIPTION

General objective :

The/the mobilizer/community mission is implementing, in partnership with the Water Hygiene and Sanitation Project Manager (EHA), projects to improve living conditions on precarious’habitat sites, from the perspective of the participation of beneficiaries and accountability to the latter.
He/she participates in coordination, representation and advocacy activities on the area.
The/the mobilizer/community mission is led to take part in activities of diagnosis EHA,’ intervention and distribution on the zone. He/she has the mission to mobilize the beneficiaries of our intervention, to analyze the social dynamics within the site, and, and to propose solutions for mitigating risks as regards the risks of privatization, monetization or any other form of’emprise.
The/the mobilizer/trice can also be taken to carry out mediation between the institutional and technical services and the inhabitants of the places of precarious’habitat on topics related to the living conditions (services of the town hall, services of the town hall, etc, from the metropolis, collection of waste, services of’eau, etc…

Main Challenges :

Strong relational ability, with fluid communication and sense of pedagogy.
Knowledge of work in squat and slum
Knowledge in mediation work with precarious public
Non-Francophone public (including knowledge of Romanian compulsory)

Priorities for the first 2/3 months :

Understanding of the Marseille context (partners and associative fabric) and the dynamics of intervention sites
Intervention within the framework of the installation of sanitary infrastructure – showers/Toilets- (mobilization of the inhabitants, facilitation of appropriation and collective use).
Watching/Development of activity in vertical squat and unworthy habitats

YOUR PROFILE

Technical experience and skills :

3-4 years experience in the field of humanitarian
A first experience in a similar position
Techniques for community mobilization
Knowledge of interventions with precarious audiences
Supervision of volunteers, beneficiaries and partners
Knowledge of the functioning of the associative environment and social support
Representation to the inhabitants of the precarious habitats of’s, the asso and the specific services

Languages :

Romanian (mandatory)
Bulgarian

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

An salaried position : According to experience, from 2865 EUR gross per month (basic salary EUR 2578.5 + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly).

SI also covers accommodation and travel costs between the expatriate’s country of origin and the place of employment.

Breaks : During the mission, a system of alternation between work and leave is set up at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with USD 850 allocated by Solidarities International). In addition to these break periods, there is one additional day of rest per month worked.

Social and medical coverage: Expatriates receive insurance that reimburses all health costs (including medical and surgical expenses, dental and ophthalmological care, etc, repatriation) and a contingency system including war risks. Vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are reimbursed.
