Job Purpose

The Finance Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the financial activities of EE, ensuring the organization’s financial integrity, transparency, and compliance with both internal policies and external regulations. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Coordinator provides leadership to the Finance Officers, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, efficient budgeting, and seamless financial reporting to support EE humanitarian initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1: Financial Management and Reporting

  1. Oversee the preparation of financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with international accounting standards.
  2. the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
  3. Ensure timely financial reporting to donors, headquarters, and other relevant stakeholders.

2: Financial Controls and Compliance

  1. Monitor internal controls, ensuring that financial operations are transparent, compliant, and adhere to EE policies.
  2. Liaise with external auditors, facilitating audits and ensuring the timely implementation of audit recommendations.
  3. Provide guidance and training to staff on financial compliance, ensuring understanding and adherence to donor requirements.

3: Leadership and Capacity Building

  1. Provide direct supervision to the Finance Officers, ensuring clarity in roles, timely performance feedback, and professional growth.
  2. Organize and deliver training sessions to enhance the financial capabilities of the EE team.
  3. Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, innovation, and continuous learning.

4: Coordination and Collaboration

  1. Collaborate closely with other departments, ensuring that financial considerations are integrated into program planning and execution.
  2. Engage with partners, donors, and stakeholders on financial matters, building trust and ensuring clarity in financial communications.
  3. Advise the CEO on potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.

5: Team Leadership and Capacity Building

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
  2. Coordinate training for non-finance staff to enhance financial literacy and compliance across EE.
  3. Act as a point of contact for financial queries from various departments, promoting cross-functional collaboration.

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience/Languages)

Essential:

  • Bachelor degree in economics (Finance, Accounting, Business Administration) or any related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years work experience,2 years at least of professional experience in Finance Officer.
  • Good Command in English Language (4 skills: Listening – Speaking – Reading – Writing).
  • Good Command in Arabic Language (4 skills: Listening – Speaking – Reading – Writing).
  • Significant experience in financial management, preferably within the humanitarian sector.

Desirable:

  • Master degree in Economics (Finance, Accounting, Business Administration) or any related field
  • A minimum of 6 years work experience,4 years at least of professional experience in Finance Sr. Officer.
  • Good Command of Turkish Language (4 skills: Listening – Speaking – Reading – Writing).
  • Experience with a variety of donors and a deep understanding of their financial regulations.
  • Knowledge of the political, humanitarian, and socio-cultural context of Turkey and Syria.
  • Expertise in financial software and systems relevant to the NGO sector.
