The initial salary package for this position is £ 63,156 528 GBP (approximately $ 80,181 USD), including all assignments.

About the program in Ecuador:
MAG has had an Armament and Ammunition Management (WAM) program in Peru since 2017 and in Ecuador since 2020. The program in Ecuador has been successfully established as a provider of a variety of tools and training in Physical Security and Arsenal Management (PSSM, for national security actors and is currently expanding.
This will include assisting Ecuadorian capacity to properly store and manage state arms warehouses and having the technical expertise and capacity related to the safe destruction of surplus weapons and ammunition and obsolete. This support will mitigate the risk of an unplanned explosion that may threaten or harm the local civilian population and military personnel. Finally, this initiative increases security in weapons and ammunition warehouses, thus eliminating a potential source of weapons for criminal organizations.
About the position:
Reporting to the Country Director. The objective of the post will be to implement all aspects of the Humanitarian Action against Mines (HMA), Arms and Ammunition Management (WAM) and Explosive Disposal (EOD) operations and related tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and as indicated by the Country Director.
This will include conducting evaluations, coordination, and technical oversight on WAM projects. These may include the destruction of weapons and ammunition, design and delivery of PSSM training and design and supervision of the rehabilitation and / or construction of new facilities.
In addition, it will support the Country Director to guarantee the general safe execution of all MAG technical activities in the country of operation.
About you:
The successful candidate must have technical knowledge in WAM activities and operations and a relevant and recognized qualification in the matter (EOD III), or adequate practical experience. You must be able to develop, review and comply with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for security and technicians and contribute technical knowledge and demining objectives in proposals and reports. The post holder must have experience working in PSSM-type operations in developing countries and in the management of field operations. You must have experience leading, motivating, and managing a diverse team of people, and guiding and empowering others. You should also have experience in formal or informal training and the transfer of appropriate skills to others.Self-employment experience is also required for extended periods of time, in “ independent ” environments with minimal supervision.
Fluency in Spanish and English is required at work level.

About the Ecuador program:
MAG has had a Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) program in Peru since 2017, and in Ecuador since 2020. The program in Ecuador has successfully established itself as provider of a range of Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) tools and training to the national security actors and is now expanding.
This will include helping the Ecuadorian capacity to properly store and manage state-held weapons stockpiles and to have the technical expertise and capability to routinely and safely dispose of excess and obsolete weapons. Additionally, this support will mitigate the risk of an unexplained explosion that may threaten or harm the local civilian population and military personnel. Finally, the Conventional Weapons Destruction ( CWD ) project will result in more secure stockpiles, thereby eliminating a potential source of weapons for non-state actors and criminal organizations.
About the role:
Our Technical Field Managers are the core of our work. The aim of the post will be to implement all aspects of Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) and related tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures and as directed by the Technical Field Manager – Team Leader (TFM – TL). You will provide coordination and technical oversight of WAM projects from initial project design, rehabilitation and / or construction of new facilities to the development of sustainable national capacity. In addition, you will support the TFM-TL and the Country Director in ensuring overall safe execution of all MAG technical activities within the country.
About you:
The successful candidate must have experience of delivering Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) type activities and operations. You must be EOD 3 IMAS qualified and have significant experience of working in SALW / PSSM type Operations in developing countries and of managing field operations. You will be experienced in leading, motivating and managing a diverse team of people, and in mentoring and coaching others. You will also have experience of conducting formal or informal training and the transfer of appropriate skills to others. Experience of working independently for extended periods of time in ‘ stand-alone ’ environments with minimal supervision is also required. To be successful in this role, the post-holder will have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in Spanish and English working level required.
