ABOUT THE ROLE

Overview

ICM is seeking to appoint an independent external investigator to conduct an investigation. The independent investigator will investigate allegations received in accordance with ICM’s policy and procedures.

An ideal candidate will have:

  1. An advanced degree in accounting, finance, law, or a related field.
  2. Designation as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified in Financial Forensics and/or Certified Forensic Accountant is an advantage.
  3. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience working in administrative/internal fraud investigation and experience working with INGOs and NGOs
  4. Experience in conducting investigations remotely and in different cultural settings is an asset.

Scope and deliverables

The external investigator will:

  • Conduct the investigation in accordance with ICM’s policies and procedures.
  • Develop a detailed Investigation Work Plan.
  • Conduct confidential interviews with alleged victim, subject and any witnesses.
  • Draft an investigation report, including recommendations and observations.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The requirements are as follows. These will be measured as part of the assessment and selection process.

Education & Qualifications

  1. Advanced Degree in accounting, finance or a related field is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s) in the specified fields with three additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  2. Designation as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified in Financial Forensics and/or Certified Forensic Accountant is an advantage.
  3. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience working on administrative/internal fraud investigations is required.
  4. SEAH investigations experience is highly desirable.
  5. Experience with international organizations and NGOs is an advantage.
  6. Fluency in English is required.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Experience of working in a multicultural and multi-lingual and diverse organisation.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively and independently without the need for supervision.
  10. Excellent investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  11. Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.
