For the past 12 years MiCT has been conducting investigative reporting training and has produced investigative reports in cooperation with local journalists in Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan & South Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, as well as several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Digital Magazine Designer to join our team at Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT). The Digital Magazine Designer will play a crucial role in designing and creating a digital magazine from ideation to publication in Arabic. The Digital Magazine Designer will work with a group 8 artists and journalists who have already collected stories in Iraq that portray narratives of social cohesion. Content will have been collected and elevated through narratives that support engagement and discourse around concepts of justice led by principles of inclusion and citizen participation. The Digital Magazine Designer will create a digital magazine that compiles these Arabic stories and artwork into visually appealing and impactful publication. The Digital Magazine Designer will be delivering high quality design and liaising with the artists, journalists, and senior editor whilst coordinating and managing tasks to ensure publishing deadlines are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop a digital magazine, compiling all artworks and stories.
- Design magazine’s visual layout using artwork and stories but also creating new graphics.
- Create and implement a content management system (CMS) that allows project participants to easily upload and update media content, and articles related to the project, creating design for magazine pages and covers.
- Understand publications audience and meaning, ensuring layouts are attractive to readership and audience.
- Focus on providing an excellent user experience by optimizing magazine performance, navigation, and accessibility for diverse audiences, including project participants and the general public.
- Integrate multimedia elements such as videos, images, and interactive features to engage users effectively and convey the project’s message.
- Implement security measures to protect user data and ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
- Collaborate with the project team, to align the website with project goals and timelines.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Graphic Designer, Web Designer, UR designer or related field, with a strong portfolio of web projects.
- Excellent layout skills and great typography knowledge
- Proficiency with design tools such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Natural and proactive problem solver
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, especially in English and Arabic
- Understanding of web security best practices and data protection regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
