Deputy Regional Director – Campaigns and Communications (South Asia) At Amnesty International


JOB PURPOSE

As the Deputy Regional Director, you will represent Amnesty International at the highest levels to enhance the impact of the Regional Office’s campaigns and communications agenda as well as managing the strategic allocation and utilization of resources. You will also provide strategic leadership in the development, management and delivery of high impact campaigns across the South Asia region.

ABOUT YOU

You will be able to communicate with various types of people in fluent English and can work well in team settings. You will take ownership of your own responsibilities, honours commitments, supports subordinates, provides direction while taking responsibility for delegated assignments.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set, monitor, manage and report on budget and expenditure for the Regional Office and ensure the office has strong financial controls, supported by the Finance and Office Manager.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of agreed plans and that the team reports with sufficient clarity and detail on the impact of their work, including to funders where appropriate
  • Be accountable for all campaigns and communications outputs from the regional office in line with globally agreed standards
  • Monitor and analyse political, human rights and civil society developments in the region, participate in field work and deliver effective campaign strategies

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent written and verbal communications in English
  • Substantial experience of working in and on the countries covered by the South Asia Regional Office
  • Awareness of issues of social justice, equality and fairness and an understanding of equal opportunities issues and willingness to apply these principles
  • Knowledge and experience of field security issues and the ability to manage them appropriately
