Acted Democratic Republic of Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) remains shaken by the consequences of decades of civil wars. In precarious situation, displaced people suffer from chronic food insecurity’ or diseases related to the lack of’ access to’au,’ hygiene and sanitation. Acted has been present since 2003 and works primarily to respond to emergencies, build resilience, co-build effective governance and promote inclusive and sustainable growth. Presenting today’ mainly in the areas of South Kivu, Tanganyika and North with projects funded by BHA (Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance), FH (Humanitarian Fund), ECHO (European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations) And FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office), Acted provides a flexible and responsive’ emergency response to acute and complex humanitarian crises by intervening with the most vulnerable populations. With seven projects underway in our different areas, Acted seeks to meet their immediate needs in terms of’access to housing (shelter), food security, and, essential household items or the’access to the’eau, while ensuring the promotion of’a protective environment.

Acted currently has three different projects in the South Kivu Zone. A multisectoral’ emergency project in food and non-food aid, in CCCM and also in agricultural recovery. A rapid response project managed by the SAFER consortium operating throughout the South East region. And a project on the’Assistance d’urgence en Abris et articles maisonnes essentielles with displaced populations and hosts. With regard to the Tanganyika Zone, Acted is currently carrying out two projects, one on the theme of COORDINated’Action for multisectoral programming in camps and outside camps and another carried out in a consortium with the aim of supporting agricultural recovery activities and food assistance for vulnerable people. Finally, for the North Zone,Acted also has a multisectoral response project on’food assistance, agricultural support, economic recovery and’ Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (EHA) support.

Acted S’ is committed to act today and invest in the’avenir with the contribution of’a large network of partners, local organisations, global networks and different clusters that bring their expertise, their experience and their voice for the smooth running of the mission and the’ achievement of its’impact objectives. In the DRC, Acted is therefore active in humanitarian coordination with existing clusters and working groups, as well as’entities such as OCHA.

Main role and responsibilities

The MEAL volunteer is responsible for contributing to the implementation of the MEAL systems, and, the preparation of good quality reports especially to donors and external actors and contributes to the other tasks of the department when necessary.

Qualifications and skills required

  • Higher Diploma in Political Science, International Relations, International Development, Economics or equivalent (anthropology, sociology, statistics)
  • Knowledge of field data collection methods
  • Field experience in the humanitarian sector, monitoring and evaluation of projects would be a plus
  • Excellent level of written and oral communication in English and French
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of the Office Pack

Conditions

Status : voluntary (non-compulsory internship agreement)

  • Living Allowance of 300 USD
  • Guesthouse accommodation and food supported by Acted
  • Social security, mutual insurance (MSH) and repatriation assistance (SOS International) supported by Acted
  • Transport to the mission and return ticket fully supported ( to the address specified on the employment contract )
  • Visa fees covered by Acted
  • A week of departure preparation including 4 days of safety training in immersion
