Data Collection and Research Consultant at International Organization for Migration


1. Duty Station of the Consultancy: Egypt 2. Duration of Consultancy: This contract is issued for up to four months (ending 20 December 2022 depending on signing date) 3. Nature of the consultancy: In coordination with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the consultant will be responsible for conducting a study analyzing the current size, composition, location, capacities, and conditions of vulnerability of migrant populations in Egypt relative to the food security crises resulting from the Ukraine crisis. 4. Project Context and Scope: The Joint Programme (JP) between WFP, UNICEF, and IOM supports the development of responses to cushion impacts of the global emergency and build resilience to future shocks In Egypt. All activities also especially focus on vulnerable populations, targeting better understanding of needs across groups and identification of responses tailored to different populations. The Overall Objective of IOM’s component of the Programme is to contribute to strengthening the efforts of the GoE in providing needs-based socio-economic and social protection measures to address the impact of the global crisis on Egypt’s migrant population. 5. Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing: The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Protection Project Officer (Direct Assistance and Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration) and the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission. 6. Tasks to be performed under this contract: Development of a comprehensive situational analysis on the current size, composition, location capacities, and conditions of vulnerability of migrant populations in Egypt a. Meet with IOM Egypt in order to coordinate the role of the consultant and the workplan; b. Revise the established methodology and data collection tools (including the questionnaire); c. Conduct the data collection exercise while managing the workflow of consultant enumerators supporting in the effort (based in IOM’s existing data sets, focus group sessions, and phone surveys) d. Draft a comprehensive situational analysis on the current size, composition, location, capacities, and conditions of vulnerable migrants in Egypt 2. Develop a policy brief on the impact of the crisis on migrants 3. Organize sensitization workshops targeting policy makers, governmental representatives, and other stakeholders to disseminate the findings of the activities 4. Participate on behalf of IOM in the drafting of the final project report with WFP and UNICEF 7. Delivery dates and deliverables: Activity/Deliverable Timeframe

  6. Education, Experience and/or skills required • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, or another relative field. • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in research, or other relevant fields • English and Arabic languages are required, additional languages are an asset. • Knowledge and understanding of research methodologies, data collection, data management, and analysis • Work
