Country Director At Action against Hunger Spain

General objective of the position

Ensure the strategic direction and positioning of Action Against Hunger in Senegal and Gambia.

Main responsibilities

  • STRATEGIC VISION OF THE MISSION Define, in coordination with the teams, the coordination team and the Geographic Manager, the intervention strategy of Action Against Hunger Senegal, in accordance with the mandate, the international strategy of Action Against Hunger Hunger the regional strategy of Action Against Hunger in West Africa, the general strategy of Action Against Hunger Spain and the political framework of the organization; Define, implement and monitor the mission Action Plan in all these aspects: the DP is responsible for achieving and achieving the objectives of the Mission strategy; Carry out permanent monitoring of the context of intervention Ensure, in collaboration with the teams and the Geographic Manager, the quality and relevance of projects and programs, with reference to the mandate of Action Against Hunger; Define with headquarters the mission organization chart and the allocation of resources in line with the defined strategic objectives and the available means (CCP);
  • 1.2 Search for funding Define a strategy for searching for funding and direct resources for the implementation of the Mission strategy; Monitor and control co-financing needs (public and private).
  • 1.3 Mission security As ultimately responsible for the security of Action Against Hunger in the country in which he/she works, the Country Director is responsible for the security of the mission in order to enable the staff of the organization to access populations and areas of intervention in the safest way possible. Promote a culture of security according to the institutional principles of Action Against Hunger in terms of security;
  • Objective 2: REPRESENTATION Represent the organization before local and national authorities present in the country, in accordance with the mandate, charter of principles and strategic framework of Action Against Hunger; Develop, manage and monitor strategic and operational partnerships; Maintaining and guiding the “positioning” of the organization in the country (participation in various meetings with donors, partners, ministries, etc. and ability to position the organization in its technical and operational challenges); Represent and boost relationships with donors and UN agencies, defending the interests of the organization. Monitor their priorities and analyze opportunities in line with the mission strategy. Represent in front of national and international media. Represent and boost relationships with other international actors represented in Senegal;
  • Objective 3: MANAGEMENT 3.1 Mission management Ensure good operational and financial management of the mission, in collaboration with the team and headquarters. The DP is responsible for achieving the operational and financial objectives of the mission; Ensure respect for the principles and values ​​of Action Against Hunger, particularly with regard to the Code of Conduct and the fight against fraud, corruption, abuse of power and other bad practices. Ensure the control and application of Action Against Hunger procedures and donor procedures at the level of all aspects of the mission (logistics, technical, finances, human resources, operations, communications, training, visibility); Guide and support the administration for the overall management of mission resources; Monitor the financial situation of the mission, in direct link with the strategy and objectives set, make the necessary financial decisions and directions in collaboration with your team and headquarters; Ensure the volume of financing, the financial margin, the correct use of own funds to guarantee the operational stability of the mission, in accordance with the mission strategy and the directions set with the Geographic Manager;

Do you match the profile we are looking for?

  • Technical or generalist training, with prior experience in general mission coordination and program management
  • Solid experience in management and supervision of multicultural teams. Experience in external representation and good knowledge of the financial procedures of international donors (ECHO, EU, OFDA/USAID). Experience in finance, human resources management and administration required. Experience in security management.
  • Fluent French, English strongly desired
  • Mastery of Action Against Hunger administrative procedures is a great asset.

Our remuneration package

We offer immediate incorporation into a dynamic organization of international scope with the following contractual conditions:

  • Salary according to the Action Against Hunger salary scale and the candidate’s experience.

  • Return plane ticket for annual leave.
  • Accommodation and lodging costs.
