General objective of the position
- Participate in the definition, planning and monitoring of nutrition activities and programmes in accordance with the INTERSOS protocols, as well as the coordination of human and material resources necessary to ensure the quality of care provided by INTERSOS.
- Assume responsibility for the coordination of nutrition activities in the mission.
Main responsibilities and tasks
- Responsible for defining, implementing and updating the medical content of the INTERSOS country medical strategy.
- From the INTERSOS country’s medical strategy by translating the identified health needs into a strategic medical vision and the objectives of the project, the priorities and resources necessary to cover the medical and humanitarian needs of the population at risk.
- He is generally responsible for the adequacy and quality of medical interventions carried out by INTERSOS projects and is supposed to identify and work to remove obstacles to improving patient safety, the effectiveness of medical care and the improvement of patient-centered activities
- Ongoing monitoring of medical and humanitarian needs in the mission country in new areas of intervention or in areas where INTERSOS is already present through exploratory missions, including, monitor and review project proposals, and, identify the resources needed to identify health and nutrition priorities and potential new programmes to address the medical and humanitarian needs of the population at risk
- Coordinate with the medical unit the validation of project proposals he/she designs to be submitted to international donors and private foundations
- Responsible for the supervision and monitoring of medical technical aspects, humanitarian needs and, in coordination with the national logistics and supply coordinator, material aspects of the programmes through regular field visits, analysis of difficulties encountered during implementation and reporting of deviations as soon as they appear, to proactively provide the necessary solutions and achieve operational results
- In close collaboration with the human resources coordinator, participate in the planning, definition and sizing of health and work programmes.
- Planning, definition and sizing of mission health personnel and supervising associated processes (recruitment, validation of medical personnel, training/integration, evaluation, detection of potentials, etc, development and internal/external communication). Directly supervise and support the medical teams in the implementation of the medical activities
- ensure that internal protocols are followed as well as those of the local ministry of health department and the local ministry of health
- Responsible for the definition and sizing of other resources (management of pharmacy and medical equipment in collaboration with logistics) and deadlines, procedures and protocols.
- Ensure the preparation of all medical orders in collaboration with the department of logistics and procurement and the submission of all medical procurement.procurement and submission of all purchase requests medical equipment. Be responsible
- the proper management of the pharmacy of the Mission and the supervision of medical personnel.
- the use of the inventory management system (IMS) by medical personnel, including the projects. Provide reports on the evolution of the mission from a medical perspective, as required, as appropriate
- Represent INTERSOS to local medical authorities and ensure a constant presence and active participation in health and nutrition coordination forums (cluster meetings, etc, other technical coordination meetings) and at the forums for the coordination of health and nutrition.
- Maintain regular contact with other partners of the mission (NGOs, civil society organizations, etc.) in order to broaden the analysis of the medical-humanitarian situation, strengthen the impact of medical intervention and support advocacy.
Required profile
Education
- Master’s degree in medicine or other paramedical field. Desirable specialization in tropical medicine or public health degree
Professional Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience as a Medical Referent(e) in the humanitarian sector, especially in fragile and unstable environments.
- Previous experience in nutrition.
