WHAT WE DO …

SOLIDARITY INTERNATIONAL (SI)is an association of’ international humanitarian aid which, for more than 40 years, has been helping people who are victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to the vital needs, drinking, eating, sheltering. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases related to unhealthy’, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions an expertise in the field of’access to drinking’water,’ sanitation and the promotion of’hygiene but also in that, essential, of, food security and means of’. Present in more than 21 countries, the SI teams, 2500 people in total, composed of’expatriates, national staffs, permanent staff at headquarters, some volunteers…- intervene with professionalism and commitment in respect of cultures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Emergency Desk aims to support the IS response capacity to acute crisis contexts, through 3 main modalities :

  • The direct response in the event of a natural disaster or a sudden crisis of high intensity
  • The watch and the’opening of missions on acute crises
  • Support for existing IS missions to anticipate and respond to sudden crises in their’ intervention area

To meet this consistent, constant and rotating need, the IS Emergency Desk has set up an emergency RESPONSE team – Emergency Response Team (ERT). L’ERT is a team of’experts headquarters, deployed on the grounds of’urgence and’ouverture up to 70% of their working time, and, and involved on’ filesimprovement of the IS’ emergency response to the tune of 30%. Directly attached to the Head of Emergency Desk,’ERT is the direct extension of the IS’ emergency response strategy in the field. L’ERT is today’ composed of 5 collaborators (Director.trice Country, coordinator.trice EHA, logistics coordinator, administrative coordinator, field coordinator.trice).

Objectives :

The ERT Logistics Coordinator / Trice is responsible for the logistics component of the emergency desk missions, in the event of an emergency response or mission opening or base in a country or SI is already present. He / she is involved in emergency preparedness, participation in logistics sites, Logistics management of exploratory missions and logistical sizing of emergency missions.

He.she :

  • Participate in exploratory missions and mission opening for which it supports the logistics component and any other sector requesting involvement, depending on the composition of the team
  • Performs the logistical diagnosis of the areas where SI performs an exploration
  • Dimension, recruit and train logistics teams in Desk Emergency missions
  • Participate in the establishment of contingency stocks
  • Coordinates with the Logisticien desk and the supply department the sizing, the preparation and the’sending of the emergency stock in the field
  • Formalizes, capitalizes and manages the logistical means of response to emergencies and openings
  • Develops logistics tools for emergency management and mission openings
  • Capitalizes on the specificities of exploratory missions and maintains a document of lessons learned
  • Participates in the definition of the logistics strategy for emergency response

Priorities for the first 2-3 months :

  • Follow-up of missions in opening : Gulf of Guinea, Ethiopia, including deployments and preparation for other’ deployments according to the evolution of the context
  • Participates in the recomposition of the emergency stock

YOUR PROFILE

Education and experience :

  • Training : Initial technical training and significant experience in logistics
  • Experience(s) : At least two years of experience as a logistics coordinator in humanitarian environments, or 3 years as a logistician
  • Experience working in’urgency contexts, and in a degraded security environment
  • Experience in building team capacity.
  • Experience with SI and knowledge of tools would be a plus

Skills :

  • Mastery of the office pack.
  • Knowledge of logistical tools and in particular Link would be a plus
  • Flexibleness
  • Knowledge of donor rules and mastery of logistics processes
  • Teamwork ability, pedagogue, conscientious(se) and practical common sense.

One more :

  • A technical specialization (mechanics, electricity, energy, transport, etc.) would be an asset
  • ’adaptation capacity and resistance to stress.
  • Great sense of diplomacy

Language : Excellent command of French and’anglais, to the’written and to the’oral

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

  • Type of contract : CDI- Status Framework
  • Expat contract calculated on the basis of the expatriate salary grid.
  • Gross salary from 2,600 euros/month, excluding valuation of the’experience in NGOs
  • Leave : 2,0833 CP /month ; recovery of one day per weekend spent in the field
  • Health insurance/care provision and repatriation (100% covered)
  • Teleworking outside the deployment period (30%) possible
