Mission

Doctors of the World needs to fill the position of: Coordinator.a Country Location: Venezuela

Within the framework of MdM Spain’s action in Venezuela, it will ensure the identification and implementation of projects, programs, and consortia in the country, as well as the search for their financing. It will be responsible for the general coordination of programs in the country, coordinating human resources. , economic and material that the organization has in the country within the framework of the internal policies and standards of the Organization, ensuring compliance with the Strategic Plan of MdM in Venezuela and the Department of International Programs.

Geographic scope of intervention

Caracas, and states of Apure, Táchira, and Sucre, with the possibility of increasing or concentrating coverage areas depending on the situation.

Responsibilities

Representation, communication and positioning:

-Represent and maintain contact with the country’s authorities, other NGOs, international and national agencies and organizations, donors and authorities, and humanitarian forums.

  • Represent Doctors of the World before Organizations (WHO, UNICEF, OCHA) and international financing entities (ECHO, OCHA), public institutions (Ministry of Health), ONGD, and other agents, ensuring that our actions are consistent with policies, mission, principles and ethical values ​​of Médicos del Mundo Spain.
  • Negotiate collaboration agreements and agreements between local authorities and Médicos del Mundo and with other associated organizations and/or actors.
  • Promote and participate in Health coordination meetings with other humanitarian actors in the country
  • Assume the spokesperson in the country, for external communication, agreeing on content and positioning with the headquarters

Definition and planning of the action of Doctors of the World in Venezuela

Implement the lines of intervention of Doctors of the World and Venezuela country strategy, adapting it to the variability of the context and the capacity of the organization.

Identify operational problems and risks by adapting the structure and making it flexible according to specific needs.

Guarantee the adaptation, implementation and management of Doctors of the World projects in the areas of action.

Coordinate the preparation and delivery of follow-up and final reports required by financial entities, as well as internal reports of Médicos del Mundo.

Project management:

Supervise the good execution of ongoing projects, ensuring compliance and achievement of objectives. Support and supervise base coordination and their teams to guarantee correct planning, development, monitoring and evaluation of activities, as well as monitoring. of the indicators according to the planning.

Human resources management

Supervise and manage national and expatriate staff in coordination with the people development department and ensuring their integration and involvement

Support base coordination and ensure the good performance of MdM teams (selection processes, training and monitoring of individual and team operational objectives).

Supervise and track the empowerment process of local teams.

Security

Ensure compliance with the organization’s internal standards regarding security measures with special emphasis on extraordinary measures implemented in complex crisis situations, being the person most responsible for them.

Emergency management

Carry out active and permanent monitoring of possible emergencies in the country by participating in national monitoring groups.

Support and coordinate with the Humanitarian Action Unit in the coordination of the strategic response to emergencies.

Training

Academic: Preferably, a degree in Health Sciences or Economics, Social Sciences.

Complementary: Complementary training (accredited courses, master’s degree) in Humanitarian Action and/or Public Health will be valued.

Other higher and secondary training could be considered, as long as experience in coordinating health projects within the field of international cooperation and humanitarian action, and knowledge of primary health care can be demonstrated.

Requirements

Languages: Spanish.

IT: Management of the office and internet package.

Experience

It is essential to have at least five to seven years of professional experience in the sector, having previously held similar positions, preferably in the field of humanitarian action in complex crisis environments. Previous experience in public health projects will be valued, as well as experience in establishing multi-stakeholder alliances and inter-institutional dialogue.
