Badael’s Mission

Badael is a rights-based organization founded in 2013 with a mission to foster transformative justice as the basis of a genuine and sustainable peace in Syria. Championing locally owned alternatives, we endeavor to buttress the scope and impact of inclusive grassroots civic action and foment the development of holistic truth and understanding within and around the Syrian context. Our approach combines direct assistance and capacity building efforts with bottom-up narrative-shaping initiatives, including research, oral history and advocacy, so that all Syrians are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to construct a pluralistic and rights-based society of tomorrow.

Terms of reference:

The Communication Expert will be responsible for the following tasks and activities:

1. Content Creation:

  • Review the five knowledge papers and extract key messages, data, and findings for communication and advocacy purposes.
  • Develop compelling written materials based on the knowledge papers.
  • Ensure that content aligns with the project/organization’s objectives and is suitable for advocacy and influencing decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts for accuracy and clarity.

2. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Identify key stakeholders, decision-makers, and target audiences.
  • Develop a stakeholder engagement plan to ensure that the produced content reaches the right individuals and organizations.
  • Tailor content for specific audiences, addressing their unique concerns and interests.

3. Sustainability Plan:

  • Research potential donors, partners, and funding opportunities that align with the project’s goals.
  • Develop a sustainability plan that outlines strategies for resource mobilization, fundraising, and partnerships.

4. Deliverables:

  • The Communication Expert is expected to deliver the following:
  • Content materials based on the knowledge papers suitable for advocacy.
  • Stakeholder engagement plan.
  • Sustainability plan, including outreach to potential donors.

5. Reporting:

The Communication Expert will report to Executive Director who will provide oversight, guidance, and feedback on the expert’s work.

6. Timeline:

The duration of this assignment is 12 days, starting from 10.11.2023 to 31.12.2023. The Communication Expert is expected to adhere to the provided schedule.

7. Qualifications:

The Communication Expert should possess the following qualifications:

  • A degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in content creation, advocacy, and donor engagement.
  • Strong writing and content creation skills in Arabic and English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of youth empowerment and Syrian context is a must.
