Business Development Coordinator At Orange


General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population. Since its establishment, Orange partners directly with affected Syrian populations delivering programmes spanning sectors, including humanitarian and development programmes, in the Early Recovery, Food Security, Agriculture, Livelihoods, Education, and Protection, in addition to long term impact interventions focusing on the economic empowerment and the local value chains improvements to enable targeted communities to improve their living practices and their sustainable mechanisms.

Orange collaborates with variety of national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as local initiatives to adopt community-based approach that leads to improve the response’s impact to the humanitarian crisis and provides sustainable and alternative solutions.

Job Purpose:

The Business Development Coordinator is a key role responsible for driving sustainable growth and promoting partnerships within the Syrian and Turkish contexts. This position demands a strategic visionary with exceptional networking, communication, and negotiation aptitude. The Business Development Coordinator will work in tandem with internal and external stakeholders to unearth funding prospects, craft innovative strategies, and develop relationships that are line with Orange mission and endeavours.

This role will report to both the Director of Programs and the Director of Business Development, ensuring streamlined communication, collaboration, and alignment with the Orange strategic vision.

Duties, objectives and competencies:

Cultivating Partnerships and Relationships:

  • Identify and develop strategic alliances with local and international entities, governmental bodies, corporations, donors, and other stakeholders to amplify Orange visibility, influence, and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain strong connections with key stakeholders to identify collaborative openings, funding channels, and potential donors.
  • Act as Orange representative at conferences, events, alliances, forums, technical groups.

Development of Funding Strategy:

  • Collaborate with Orange senior leadership to shape a comprehensive funding strategy harmonized with Orange mission and goals.
  • Conduct research to pinpoint novel funding avenues from varied sources including grants, foundations, institutional donors, corporate entities, and governmental agencies.
  • Analyze funding patterns, donor priorities, and funding requisites to customize proposals and initiatives correspondingly.

Proposals Development:

  • Lead the creation of compelling grant proposals, concept outlines, and other funding applications, ensuring alignment with donor guidelines and Orange strategic roadmap.
  • Collaborate closely with Program leads and financial teams to assemble requisite information, data, and narratives for proposals.

Resource Mobilization:

  • Liaise with the finance team to devise budgets and financial forecasts for grant proposals and projects, ensuring conformity with donor guidelines and organizational imperatives.
  • Monitor and track grant opportunities, deadlines, and reporting mandates, ensuring punctual submissions and adherence to donor stipulations.

Due Diligence:

  • Respond to due diligence assessments by donors, and collaborators to ensure alignment with Orange values, mission, and ethical standards.
  • Establish and maintain a due diligence repository, recording findings and recommendations for future reference.

Networking and Advocacy:

  • Participate actively in relevant forums, task groups, and networks to stay abreast of the humanitarian and development landscape in Syria.
  • Champion the organization’s mission and initiatives by actively engaging with pertinent stakeholders and championing its undertakings.

Capacity Enhancement:

  • Provide guidance and training to junior staff on effective business development strategies, adept proposal writing, and proficient interaction with donors and partners.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across the organization to elevate its overall fundraising efficacy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a pertinent field (Business, International Relations, Development Studies, etc.). A master’s degree is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in business development, fundraising, or partnership cultivation within the NGO landscape, preferably in Syria or similar intricate contexts.
  • Profound comprehension of the humanitarian and developmental environment in Syria and Türkiye, encompassing its challenges and prospects.
  • A proven track record of successful grant composition, proposal development, and mobilization of resources from diverse funding conduits.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken communication in English and Arabic.
  • Competence in utilizing the MS Office suite and pertinent software for proposal formulation and financial forecasting.
