BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The job holder reports to the Senior Communications Associate under the overall supervision of the Communications Officer. At this level, the job holder is expected to take responsibility for supporting the Communications team in producing content and stories, organizing field visits and events, administrative and procurement processes, and internal organization of the team’s materials and documents.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):
Within the assigned unit and delegated authority, the Communications Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
- Support content creation by pitching posts for WFP Lebanon social media platforms and networks, ensuring consistent coverage and support for activities, in accordance with WFP messaging and standards;
- Support with editorial tasks including drafting and editing of human interest stories, and inputs for WFP reports;
- Maintain a comprehensive database, including both audio-visual and written content to ensure the systematic organization and easy accessibility of communication resources for WFP Lebanon staff;
- Facilitate coordination, administrative assistance, and specialized services to contribute to the development, preparation, and execution of WFP Lebanon communication campaigns and field visits;
- Monitor traditional and social media channels to extract relevant information for timely updates to the WFP Lebanon staff;
- Implement improvements to communications methods and practices, to contribute to a better flow of information about WFP’s work to the media and stakeholders;
- Respond to specialized queries and requests for support, using initiative and following standard processes, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of all enquiries;
- Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Secondary School Certificate is required. Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Communications, Media Studies, or relevant fields are a plus.
Experience:
Four (4) years of experience in communications and media.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent organization skills
- Proficiency in social media platforms including: drafting posts, scheduling, and extracting analytics
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Eye for latest communication trends and good content
- Advanced writing skills in Arabic and English
Language
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic, French is a plus.
