Associate, Development Writing At World Central Kitchen


World Central Kitchen, Inc. (WCK) seeks a talented and committed Associate, Development Writing to support the development of proposals, reports, collateral materials, email updates, pitch decks, etc. for major donors, foundations, and corporations. Part of a highly motivated and high performing Donor Relations team, the successful candidate must possess a can-do attitude and exceptional organizational skills, thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume, and dynamic environment, and have a demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines, and communicate with donors through written materials. This position will provide significant support to WCK’s ability to share with individuals and institutions the incredible impact of their partnerships.

This role will report to the Senior Manager, Development Writing and Research, and will support the entire grant management cycle, from recording and tracking deadlines to developing written materials. This role requires a sincere commitment to WCK’s mission, solid writing skills, and at least 2-3 years’ experience in development writing.

This role is intended to be a full-time hybrid exempt position, based in Washington DC, with a minimum 2 days on-site per week. Rare travel and work, including on evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Record, input, and track deliverable deadlines into a grant calendar using systems including Salesforce and Asana
  • Develop grant applications, proposals, and reports for submission to major donors, using discretion to ensure that each written material meets the requirements of the donor and represents the tone, values, and standards of excellence of WCK
  • During times of WCK activation, draft written materials that include an overview of the emergency response, donor updates, and a wrap-up report once the response has concluded
  • Coordinate closely with the Donor Relations Team to align on deliverable content, donor expectations and interests, and deadlines
  • Coordinate with other departments to receive data and metrics, financial information, and any other requirements
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in fundraising, with a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with individual and/or institutional donors in writing
  • Experience managing calendars, timelines, and deadlines with demonstrated project management using tools such as Asana
  • Experience thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a key function of a hardworking team
  • Proficient with Google, Apple, and MS Office programs and apps
  • Alignment with the mission and values of WCK
  • Must be able to deploy occasionally including internationally
  • Must have U.S. work authorization

Preferred candidates will have previous experience with grants and proficiency in other languages.
