Assessment Officer (Emergency Team) At IMPACT Initiatives

We are currently looking for an Assessment Officer to support research and analysis by the REACH Emergency Team. The Assessment Officer will work in a team to access frontline communities, conduct interviews, analyse data and draft short reports containing crucial information that humanitarian organisations need to respond effectively in hard-to-reach areas of Ukraine.

REACH Initiative is a unique humanitarian NGO, which provides research, data, and analysis to support more effective humanitarian intervention in crisis contexts. By providing precise and rigorous information on the humanitarian situation of crisis-affected populations in Ukraine, REACH informs better aid delivery and more transparent and reliable decision making. In Ukraine, REACH is hosted by our sister organisation, ACTED.

IMPACT is seeking an Assessment Officer (AO) to support the Emergency Team in conducting rapid assessments of humanitarian needs, particularly in frontline and otherwise hard-to-access areas of Ukraine. The Emergency Team is currently comprised of 6 staff with expertise in research, analysis, GIS and data statistics.

Under the supervision of the Senior Assessment Officer and Senior Research Manager, the AO will support the team in building and maintaining a network of partners and key informants, coordinate field activities by developing movement plans for field staff, support on the development of assessment methodologies, oversee and conduct primary data collection, and support the analysis of data and drafting of reports and updates. This will involve movements into high-risk areas to engage with communities within 20 – 30 km of the frontline.

The AO may be asked to present findings of assessments and engage externally with senior staff from the UN, National NGOs, and International NGOs to ensure findings are received by key stakeholders and can lead to action.

This position is based in Dnipro or Kharkiv, Ukraine, with travel mainly in the East and South of the country, including conflict-affected areas in Kharkisvka, Donetska, Zaporizhzhiska and Khersonska oblasts.
