WHAT DO WE DO …

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for nearly 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to vital needs, drinking, eating and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and promotion hygiene but also in the essential aspect of food security and means of existence. Present in around twenty countries, the SI teams – 2,000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The outfielders respond to mission support needs via the various IS Desks. Prioritization between countries is ensured by the Director of Operations. When deployed, they work under the responsibility of the country director of the desk concerned.

The logistics coordinator manages the mission’s logistics activities to ensure the smooth running of IS programs in the country.

He/She ensures the implementation of IS logistics procedures and tools on the mission and ensures their compliance and proper use.

He/She participates in defining the IS strategy for the mission, drafting projects and sizing the resources necessary for IS activities.

He/She supports the country director in the operational management of security.

He/She is the contact person on the mission and the link between headquarters and the mission for any questions related to logistics.

He/She will have to cover Logistics Coordinator positions in the capital but depending on needs, he/she may be required to occupy Base Logistician positions on advanced IS bases.

Main activities :

  • Strategy / Reporting / Capitalization / Budget monitoring
  • Thermal Park Management
  • Management of Technical Equipment
  • Management of communications and telecommunications systems
  • Management and monitoring of IT assets
  • Procurement management
  • Inventory management
  • Management of shipments and deliveries

Support the country director, field coordinators and base managers with the following tasks:

  • Context analysis / information collection
  • Implementation and monitoring of security procedures
  • Crisis management
  • Human resources management and supervision

YOUR PROFILE

Experiences and skills required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Logistics Coordinator in NGOs
  • Experience in an open environment desirable
  • Technical expertise appreciated (purchasing, stock, transport, safety management, etc.)
  • Experience in “surge capacity” positions preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Excel and data collection software (Kobo, ODK-based)

LANGUAGES

  • English: fluent: Read, spoken and written
  • French: fluent: Read, spoken and written
  • Spanish: would be an asset

  • Enjoys teamwork.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to different cultural contexts.
  • Adaptation to different work environments and volatile security contexts.
  • Stress management: ability to work under pressure while respecting imposed deadlines, and to manage significant increases in workload.
  • Pro activity and strength of proposal.

IF WILL OFFER YOU THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

  • Permanent contract, executive status. Position attached to IS headquarters but flexible location outside deployments.

(home) will be negotiable.

  • Expatriate contract calculated on the basis of the expatriate salary scale (gross salary at coordinator level) from 2,600 euros/month, excluding valuation of NGO experience
  • Leave: Recovery of one day per weekend spent in the field. 5 weeks paid vacation.
  • Health/welfare and repatriation insurance (100% covered)
