  • About CLAC

The Latin American and Caribbean Coordinator of Small Producers and Fair Trade Workers (CLAC), is an Association established with legal status in El Salvador, that groups Small Producers Organizations (OPP’s) and Workers’ Organizations within Fair Trade. CLAC is organized into “ National Coordinators ” and “ Networks ”; the former group CLAC member organizations by country, while Product Networks, They group organizations by product regardless of the country they are in and the Workers’ Network groups together workers’ organizations from different countries.

CLAC’s mission is not only to represent democratically organized organizations, but also to ensure their strengthening and development, as well as to provide assistance to their partners, promote their products and values, and influence social, political and economic instances. CLAC’s strategic lines of work are: 1) Strengthen CLAC’s organizational sustainability, 2) Promote fair trade, its principles and values, 3) Strengthening and development of our membership, 4) Increase access to existing and new markets, 5) Influence responsible production, trade and consumption to promote sustainable development, 6) Contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through inclusion, the adoption of good social and environmental practices in our membership.

  • About the Project

Within the framework of the PIP (Productivity Increase Program), the objective of the Banana Fair Trade project in Colombia, consists of strengthening small banana producers in the region in the implementation of Soil Health programs through the production of bio-products to from Multiple Communities of Mountain Charitable Microorganisms (CMMBM), in order to improve their living conditions as a consequence of an increase in the income of producers, product of the increase in the productivity of their farms.

Cooperatives of small banana producers in the Banana Zone in the province of El Magdalena in Colombia would participate in the project, directly benefiting around 450 producers, technicians and managers of these cooperatives.

The project will facilitate the implementation of practices regarding optimization of soil fertility in banana plantations and agricultural diversification.

In order to contribute to the achievement of the project’s objectives, a professional committed to Fair Trade and who assumes the position of Agricultural Technician PIP Project – Colombia.

Efficiently and effectively manage the technical and operational components of the PIP project in Colombia.

  • Purpose and Main Functions of the position

Purpose

Contribute to the empowerment and self-management of membership

Main function

Manage the technical and budgetary components of the PIP project efficiently

Collateral coordination functions

Develop and implement technical support for Cooperatives participating in the PIP project, in accordance with the work methodology developed by CLAC

Identify the activities necessary for the success of the technical support and manage the schedule for its implementation.

Plan and manage the project budget and expenses and ensure the correct use of project funds

Ensure that the quality of technical support within the PIP project according to the elements established by CLAC (Health of soils / suppressor soils, manufacture of bio-products, etc.)

Make follow-up and monitoring visits to the different areas of the project

Document the interventions, work methodologies, results and learning and report them regularly to the Sustainable Production Unit.

Develop and maintain fluid communication with Cooperatives in the project as with CLAC work colleagues to ensure good coordination of the work agenda.
