French Farmers and International Development (Afdi) is an association of agricultural professionals, whose mission is to build partnerships between the French agricultural world and countries of the South. For nearly 50 years, Afdi has supported the strengthening of peasant organizations, in their internal governance, in their advocacy and the implementation of services for their members.
To contribute to the development of its actions, Afdi is looking for an advocacy officer.
The advocacy officer will have the following missions:
- Ensure a watch on the’ national and international news related to development, agricultural, commercial, environmental policies in connection with the’Afdi intervention space and the challenges of family farming’ ;
- Ensure relationships with partners institutional invested in the international challenges of’agriculture and development ;
- Building of the’expertise on the subjects and themes carried by Afdi, in particular by the preparation of specific notes and publications ;
- Organize actions of’influence and mobilization (meetings, trainings, events..) ;
- Participate in the actions of coherence and revitalization of the Afdi network : ’ team meetings, permanent seminar, General Assembly, Afdi Network Days, etc.
Training & experience
- Training in international development, international relations, political science or equivalent; bac level + 4/5 ;
- Professional experience of’ advocacyat least 3 years is required.
Skills
- Knowledge of and interest in international issues, with a global vision of international issues concerning’ agriculture ;
- Good understanding of advocacy issues and methods ;
- Experience in institutional relations and consultation between actors ;
- A form of proximity with agricultural organizations in France and in developing countries and/or international issues of agricultural development is expected ;
- Strong editorial capacity ;
- Good level of written and oral’anglais.
Status : fixed-term contract (CDD) of’one year, with prospect of CDI ;
Situation : position based in Paris 8th (metro Miromesnil), with possibility of international missions ;
Salary : according to experience (between 33 and 36k€ gross annual) ;
