Term of office : 10 Months to 12 months – possibility of renewal

SUMMARY OF L’OFFRE :

Under the responsibility of the regional head of the PCV, the cooperating person will carry out his mandate with the’partner organisation to ensure the implementation of’capacity-building activities within the framework of the voluntary cooperation programme. The volunteer advisor will be required to advise, assist and technically support the’team of the’partner organization in their reflections, services and programs so that’s guarantee the respect of the rights of the’enfant. The person holding the position also contributes to the development of communication renderings and’s related to the activities developed and implemented during his mandate.

RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Ensure the implementation of the activities of the PCV programme and the establishment of relations of trust with the’partner organisation;
  • Analyze public and institutional policy approaches and proposals for children and adolescents in vulnerable situations and/or in contact with the law;
  • Support the’partner organisation in carrying out’advocacy, awareness-raising and advocacy activities of the target audience;
  • Support legal research work and assist in the drafting of documents on the rights of the CHILD and international humanitarian law concerning children and adolescents, as well as the drafting of documents to be submitted to national courts or international bodies;
  • Contribute to the preparation of legal analysis on access to justice and the State response concerning children in vulnerable situations;
  • Support the partner organization in the revision or implementation of support protocols for child victims of abuse or exploitation so that they guarantee the respect of their rights;
  • Support the organization and facilitation of training workshops for civil society and government officials;
  • Support the organization and animation of training activities that promote the approach of gender equality in the organization’s interventions with children and adolescents in conflict with the law and/or in a vulnerable situation;
  • Support the organization in activities related to the Social Laboratory;
  • Participate in the initial mapping of the actors and in the updating of the profile of the protection system of the’child of the country of’intervention;
  • If necessary, support the strengthening of the partner organisation in terms of work organisation, information management, communication and other activities related to their expertise;
  • Write progress reports on the activities put in place in collaboration with the partner’organisation;
  • Write articles on the work carried out and on the’experience of voluntary cooperation;

*The responsibilities are given as’example and may differ from the elaborated mandate that will be proposed to the candidate. All mandates are developed with partners on the basis of expressed needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES

Requirements

  • Have permanent residence or Canadian citizenship ;
  • Hold a diploma of’ university studies in law or any other studies related to human rights;
  • Minimum of 2 years of’significant work experience in child rights-related functions, human rights training, and/or advocacy; and;
  • Knowledge and interest in children’s rights, with a focus on the child protection system and’ access to justice for minors;
  • Mastery of French both written and spoken. The person must be able to write, revise, comment and correct texts in French and, for mandates in Central and South America, a mastery of’spanish both written and spoken;
  • Ability to prepare and conduct training, and provide recommendations;
  • Capacity of’analysis,’organization and synthesis
  • Mastery of new technologies of’information
  • Great ability for teamwork while being autonomous in his work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and great capacities of’adaptation

Assets

  • Hold a specialization or master’s degree
  • Experience working abroad’
  • Experience of voluntary cooperation
  • Knowledge of the principles of’equality between women and men
  • Knowledge of results-based management and of the’ approach based on the human rights
  • Knowledge of international development issues
  • Knowledge of security measures in international cooperation
