- Collaborate with the National Operations and Logistics Assistant in the timely preparation and submission of project work plans, budgets, procurement plans, and progress reports.
- Contribute to the National Project Coordinator and the UNEP National Adaptation Plan Task Manager in developing terms of reference and assisting in the recruitment process of consultants and individual contractors.
- Manage the progress of project activities and identify corrective measures to overcome operational constraints.
- Collaborate in the elaboration of Interim Progress Reports (IPRs) to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) of the National Adaptation Plan of Honduras.
- Contribute to the preparation of materials such as PowerPoint presentations, briefing notes, and summary reports for project meetings, workshops, and training.
- Prepare agendas and arrange appointments and meetings related to the project activities and write minutes from the meetings.
- Maintain general office files and databases and keep the information in a manner that allows easy reference and retrieval.
- Receive and provide technical inputs, or draft and distribute correspondence on a variety of project-related subject matters in both Spanish and English languages, attaching necessary background information, and ensuring that grammar, spelling, and format are correct.
- Translate or organize and oversee the translation of project documentation and reports between Spanish and English, as relevant.
- Work in close collaboration with the Project Management Unit in any other support services as requested, to ensure smooth operation of daily activities and proper management of the unit’s resources.

In terms of supporting countries in the region to achieve global commitments under the Paris Agreement, the UNEP Climate Change Subprogramme for Latin America and the Caribbean aims to strengthen countries’ capacity to move towards climate resilience and low-emissions strategies for sustainable development and human well-being. Within this framework, the UNEP Climate Change Subprogramme, through its Climate Change Unit, leads and supports various initiatives aimed at designing, promoting, and implementing innovative mitigation and adaptation solutions at the national and sub-national levels, and strengthening countries’ transparency frameworks. The expected achievement regarding climate change adaptation is that adaptation approaches, including ecosystem-based approaches, are implemented, and integrated into key national and sectoral development strategies to reduce vulnerability and strengthen resilience to the impacts of climate change. Similarly, the UNEP Climate Change Subprogramme also commits to ensuring that cross-cutting issues such as gender equity and women’s empowerment are effectively integrated into the development of its tasks to ensure equitable development in line with its adaptation objectives. In this context, the Secretariat of Natural Resources and Environment (SERNA) of Honduras and UNEP have agreed to implement the “Enabling Environments to Plan, Implement, Monitor, and Report National Strategic Adaptation Processes in Honduras” project framed within the Readiness programme of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Called “Plan A Honduras Project: Strategic Climate Adaptation Planning”. To fulfill the project objective, UNEP LACO is recruiting an Administrative Assistant Consultant who will be primarily responsible for helping the National Project Coordinator and the Project Management Unit (Plan A Project Team), through logistical organization and administration of the Project and other relevant meetings, workshops, trainings, consultations, and communications efforts (as necessary). The Administrative Assistant Consultant will operate under the overall supervision of the UNEP Adaptation Programme Management Officer for Climate Change Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean Office and will work in close collaboration with the National Project Coordinator in the execution of the project. The incumbent will be located at Project Management Unit, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and will work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday full time.
Qualifications/special skills•ACADEMIC: • Bachelor’s degree in administration, accounting, logistics, finance or a related area is required. PROFESSIONAL: • Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, finance, accounting, administrative services, or related area is required. • Demonstrated work experience in the organization and implementation of small to medium size events is an asset. • Experience in the preparation of project work plans, budgets, procurement plans, and/or progress reports is an advantage. • Previous experience participating in community development and/or environmental projects is an advantage. • Experience in the United Nations or other international organizations is an advantage. LANGUAGE: • Fluent in Spanish is required. • Fluent in English is required. SKILLS: • Collaborative and organized professional. • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues in a language and format that is appropriate to specific target audiences. • Proficiency in Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). • Ability and willingness to travel to urban and rural regions of the country.
