VAT Compliance Controller At Danish Red Cross


As VAT Compliance Controller, you are responsible for handling all VAT-related matters in the Red Cross, including preparing and submitting VAT returns, advising on the applicability of VAT and ensuring compliance with tax legislation. You will play an important role in mapping VAT processes, ensuring correct implementation in the ERP system and proposing and overseeing internal controls. Your expertise will help optimize the organisation’s VAT position and ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely VAT returns and returns in accordance with local and international regulations.
  • Cooperate with the tax authorities and handle VAT audits and inquiries.
  • Analyze transactions and advise on correct VAT treatment and ensure compliance with applicable tax legislation.
  • Investigate and resolve any VAT-related discrepancies or issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design efficient VAT processes and workflows in the Red Cross and coordinate the implementation of VAT processes in the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct regular assessments of VAT compliance and report on key findings.
  • Suggest areas for improvement and implement internal controls to reduce VAT-related risks.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the VAT control and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Monitor VAT-related developments in legislation and update internal policies accordingly.
  • Ensure that all VAT documentation is maintained accurately and is readily available for audit purposes.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on VAT related issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or other relevant education
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in VAT or indirect tax in a corporate or consulting environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of VAT rules and experience with VAT reporting.
  • Experience with ERP systems and VAT configuration preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Competences:

  • Skills in VAT compliance and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of VAT rules and tax legislation.
  • Experience with design and implementation of VAT processes.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex tax legislation.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and VAT functionality.
  • Strong problem solving and investigative skills.

Salary and terms of employment follow the Red Cross’ collective agreement with HK and AC, depending on your experience and qualifications.

The position is a full-time position of 37 working hours per week incl. lunch break.
