Context of the organization

Founded in 2011, International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is an international non-governmental organisation that supports humanitarian actors in security matters by establishing security coordination platforms in risky contexts.

INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services to its partners, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reporting, security-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training.

INSO provides daily support to more than 1,400 NGOs in nearly 22 of the world’s most insecure countries.

INSO is registered in the Netherlands with its headquarters in The Hague, the international city of peace and justice.

INSO Mission in Chad

INSO is in the process of opening its office in Chad, including registration with local authorities, setting up its team, registering partners and starting its activities.

INSO plans to establish its services from a coordination office based in N’Djamena and operations in the east of the country and in the Lake Chad basin.

We are looking for an experienced person to join our team as a Training Manager (TM) based in Ndjamena and mobile across all regions covered by INSO in Chad. Join us to participate in the launch of a new service platform for NGOs!

Job Overview:

As a Training Manager, you will be responsible for developing, organizing, facilitating and evaluating training courses to support national and international NGOs in security management, crisis management, personal security and humanitarian access. You will ensure compliance with INSO training standards and best practices, lead the training team, as well as the preparation and implementation of the annual training plan.

The ideal candidate is fluent in French and has solid experience in the humanitarian sector, adult learning or civil security and safety, with strong project management skills.

Main Responsibilities:

Implementation of the training plan

  • Conduct a training needs assessment.
  • Contextualize training, in coordination with program teams.
  • Plan/organize/facilitate training, in conjunction with the support and program teams.
  • Communicate with partners about training.
  • Design/integrate monitoring and evaluation tools, in coordination with the Information team and the Reporting Officer .
  • Contribute to MEAL and donor reporting, in coordination with the Reporting Officer .

Supervise the training team

  • Manage the training team.
  • Ensure coordination with support, program and coordination teams in Chad, as well as overall management at headquarters.
  • Seek advice and provide support to other INSO training teams (17 countries).
  • Assist management staff in managing the national program.
  • Help manage the perception of INSO’s work in order to maintain recognition of its mandate of independence, impartiality and neutrality.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Fluent French required, ability to communicate in English;
  • At least 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and/or adult training (including educational engineering);
  • Established skills in NGO safety and security management;
  • At least 2 years of experience in team and project management;
  • Professional experience in conflict-affected areas.

Desirable characteristics:

  • Experience in organizing and facilitating trainings related to NGO safety and security management, personal security, humanitarian access and negotiation;
  • Experience in public speaking;
  • Certifications in project management and/or first aid;
  • Experience in implementing technical solutions in the field of training.
  • Proficiency in the Arabic language.

Terms and Conditions

12 month contract. Monthly salary of €5,000 per month, 4 calendar days of annual leave per month worked, 3 days of R&R every 3 months with an allowance of €1,250, accommodation, comprehensive medical coverage (excluding the United States) and life insurance included.

For national candidates, the salary offered for this position will be based on the INSO Chad salary scale, guaranteeing fair and transparent remuneration based on responsibilities and the local context.
