Trainee in logistics management At Doctors Without Borders in Switzerland


Duration according to the tripartite internship agreement: 6 months at 100%

This internship is part of an academic training program, a vocational training program or a socio-professional integration program and must meet the needs of conditions established by the labour market surveillance council (CSME).

Context & Mission

Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to those in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without taking into account race, religion, beliefs or political affiliation ( MSF Charter ).

The role of the logistics department is to provide logistical support to operations and to develop our capacity to implement program activities.

The trainee in the logistics department facilitates the functioning of this department, and does not need knowledge in logistics. He-she reports directly to the Director of the Logistics Department.

The’activity will be dedicated to the Logistics department but some tasks will be transversal to the other logistics units.

Main activities

Le-la trainee will have the’opportunity of’learn the functioning of’a department by having activities in various fields. The trainee will develop skills in :

  • L’organization of meetings and’events related to the Logistics department
  • The creation and implementation of the cross-functional communication of the department (newsletter, communications and internal notes, graphic production of’ poster or poster, )
  • The revision and the’improvement of the content of the web platform of the department (Registration repository)
  • Support for the implementation of training provided by the Logistics Department for international staff and headquarters staff.
  • The support to the’ elaboration and the drafting of the strategy of the department
  • Basic tasks in the administrative support and human resources management of the department (in partnership with the human resources department)

The trainee will be assigned new responsibilities according to his capacity of’apprenticeship.

Profile sought

  • Good editorial qualities
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Powerpoint, Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of collaborative tools (Outlook, Teams, Share Point …)
  • Knowledge of the Adobe suite (Canvas, InDesign, Illustrator) an asset
  • The knowledge of’laying tools,’infography and’illustrations is an asset
  • Spirit of’team
  • Flexibility, open minded’
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Rigor, attention to detail
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel
  • Spirit of’initiative, proactive
  • English: Current to the’oral and the written’

Working conditions

  • Compulsory tripartite internship agreement
  • Internship 6 months at 100% (depending on the internship agreement)
  • Based in Geneva, Switzerland
  • Date of’starting : As soon as possible
  • Gross monthly remuneration: CHF 2’000.-
