Organizational framework

The main objective of FAO country offices, headed by an FAO Representative, is to help governments develop policies, programs and projects to achieve food security and reduce hunger and malnutrition, help develop the agricultural, fisheries, forestry sectors and use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable way. This vacancy is part of the project approved by the Green Climate Fund “ Chile REDD-plus Payment for Results period 2014-2016 ” than FAO, in association with the National Forest Corporation of Chile ( CONAF ), it will execute to increase the resilience of ecosystems and native forest, and contribute to mitigating climate change in Chile. The project will contribute to reducing social vulnerability,environmental and economic that generates climate change, desertification, land degradation and drought, in the forests and local communities that depend on them in 6 regions of the country ( Maule, Biobío, Ñuble, Araucanía, Los Ríos and Los Lagos ). Hierarchical dependency

Under the general supervision of the national project coordinator, the direct supervision of the project technical assistant, the technical advice of the head/to the CONAF Department of Forests and Climate Change or to whom it delegates and the administrative management of the Regional Technical Specialist.

Field of specialization

Construction, construction engineering, architecture, civil construction, civil engineering, among others in the same field. This or this professional aims to carry out the work of Technical Inspector of Works ( ITO ) for the tasks of improving the collection center of Butalcura, located in the Dalcahue Commune, Chiloé province, whose objective is to contribute to the production of native plants for the activities and goals in the Los Lagos Region of the afforestation and revegetation Program in communes/prioritized areas ( MT4 ) and Strengthening of ecological restoration in communes / prioritized areas ( Mt5 ) of the project + Forests. On the other hand, the professional must support the technical and administrative processes of the works associated with the improvements to the collection center ( constructions, infrastructures,basic service facilities ), ensuring that the execution of general infrastructures and activities are framed in current regulations and in the permits issued for this.

Tasks and responsibilities

Work as a Technical Inspector for Improvement Works of the Butalcura plant collection center, located on Route 5 south ( km 1,156 ) towards route W385, 1 km inside the Butalcura sector, Dalcahue Commune. Reference Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/FCogtPApy5gDe55E7

For the above, the specific objectives to be achieved are the following:

  •  Support the administration of works contracts that are established as part of their execution, acting as guarantor of their inspection.
  •  Ensure compliance with all the requirements specified in the technical and administrative background of the works contracts and supervise that they are fully complied with, including current regulations.
  •  Survey, study and analysis of the project and all the bidding bases for it generated and, if necessary, carry out in a timely manner, the necessary technical modifications during the execution of the works, for its successful completion. All of the above in compliance with current regulations.
  •  Carrying out inspection visits to the works twice a week.
  •  Preparation of biweekly works reports, where the progress of the works in progress is recorded, information regarding the supervision of the works is delivered, improvements are proposed or any modification in the work is reported for its proper development.
  •  Verify and report on the progress of works or products for requesting payments and final receipt of works.
  •  Participate in meetings, either face-to-face or remote, framed in the progress and inspection of the works.

In general terms, the works to be inspected as an improvement of the Butalcura plant collection center are the following:

  •  Urbanization, which includes disarmament of the current shade, drinking water and sewerage, earthworks, foundations for subsequent installation of containers, fence and gate.
  •  Reconditioning of living spaces that includes the disassembly of the current dining room and construction of a new one ( 18m2 ), construction of a new 1024 m2 shade area, improvement of the existing warehouse, construction of covered spaces for bathrooms, warehousehouse, office.
  •  Unloading and installation of the container module office and container warehouse
  •  Execution of electrical project ( according to project prepared by a professional )
  •  Installation of a 120 m2 greenhouse ( purchased from a supplier according to specifications and they are in charge of installing it ).
  •  Execution of irrigation project for greenhouse and shade ( according to project prepared by a professional )

CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

Minimum requirements

  •  University degree in Construction Engineer, Civil Engineer, Architect, Civil Builder or other professional in the construction field.
  •  At least 2 years of relevant experience in the execution of Technical Works Inspection ( ITO ) tasks.
  •  Chilean nationality or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
  •  Fluent in Spanish ( level C ).

Selection criteria

  •  Work experience and knowledge of construction works carried out in the province of Chiloé, at least 2 years.
  •  Work experience review of construction projects at least 2 years
  •  Knowledge and handling of Autocad to review and / or modify plans.
