one.Context

AVSI Venezuela is a Venezuelan non-profit organization, created in 2022, to contribute to improving the living conditions of people living in vulnerable situations. We are a local organization linked to the international context, through a partnership with the AVSI Foundation, a non-profit non-governmental organization that supports 329 development cooperation projects in 39 countries, with headquarters in Italy, that operates in Venezuela since 2000 and that promoted the creation of AVSI Venezuela.

The WFP Food and Livelihood Assistance Program in Venezuela seeks to reduce negative coping strategies for vulnerable groups and households, improve your food security through food delivery assistance and income-generating skills training.

2.Object

With this announcement, AVSI Venezuela selects two (2) Auxiliaries Teachers responsible for supporting the teaching-learning process to achieve the objectives established in strengthening the capacities of all beneficiaries in the area of Livelihoods and Food Security, according to the corporate guidelines, policies and regulations of WFP and Fundación AVSI Venezuela.

3.Description of functions

For the execution of the project, the Teaching Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Support in the planning and execution of activities that promote the learning and development of the livelihoods of the beneficiaries, in the area of Reposter shop or of the Crafts.
  • Assist the Facilitating Teacher in the elaboration, development and evaluation of the training plan for the development of Program strategies, with an emphasis on Entrepreneurship and Business, Gender and Protection, theoretical teaching of the trade and practical teaching of the trade.
  • Co-responsible in the management and planning of socializations and transversal activities in the field with actions sensitive to nutrition, communication with communities, differentiated care for people with disabilities, protection and gender.
  • Guarantee spaces for facilitation and motivation of the beneficiaries, for which you must use, evaluate and perfect effective didactic intervention strategies to meet the objectives.

4.Key requirements and qualifications

  • Training in Education, Social Sciences, Social Work, Arts and Crafts or related.
  • Communication skills, specialist in instructional designs and training programs.
  • Verifiable experience in teaching the trade of Reposter shop or of the Crafts.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in differentiated care for people with disabilities, protection, gender and care for multicultural communities.
  • Food Handling Certificate and Medical Health Certificate (Required)
  • Sign Language Knowledge (desirable)

5.Knowledge, skills and abilities:

6.Coordination of work

The Teaching Assistant will respond directly to the Food Assistance and Livelihood Coordinator, and to the State Coordinator, based on the guidelines issued by the LATEAM Regional office, the Headquarters in Italy of the AVSI Foundation and the World Food Program (WFP).

7.Type of hiring

  • Fixed-time contract, specific days per month.
  • Start date: June 03, 2024.
  • End date: November 30, 2024.

8.Workplace

The work will be carried out at the AVSI Venezuela office in Falcón, so residing in Coro or surrounding cities is highly desirable; otherwise, availability to relocate to Falcón. Availability for eventual trips to other municipalities and / or states where the project is executed at the national level. Knowledge of the territory will be valued.
