About this job

The INE / WSA Water and Sanitation Division is searching for an individual consultant to strengthen information, data and statistics on the solid waste sector and circular economy. With knowledge of quantitative methods, indicator generation, data collection, governance, interaction with actors and database management. This consultancy seeks to generate, process and review data and information from the solid waste sector and circular economy within the framework of the solid waste hub and circular economy administered by the Bank ( https://hubresiduoscirculares.org/), the monitoring of products from the Bank, contribute to the visualization of sector data and its quality. As well as supporting the governance of initiatives, channels of communication with the countries of the region,the publication of knowledge and information documents.

At the IDB through the Water and Sanitation Division we support countries in their efforts to universalize access to solid waste management services, promoting the incorporation of the principles of the circular economy, encouraging the prevention and recovery of waste and ensuring the correct final disposal of those who cannot be used. For this we provide technical cooperation and finance projects that allow achieving these objectives, through investment financing and capacity building, knowledge and innovation.

This is what you will do

According to the schedule, product goals, and guidelines given by the IDB, carry out the following activities in order to achieve the objective of supporting statistical strengthening and information generation for the solid waste sector and circular economy :

  •  Propose, review and adjust statistical criteria, indicators and data generation for the solid waste sector and circular economy within the framework of the solid waste hub and circular economy administered by the Bank ( https://hubresiduoscirculares.org/).
  •  Review and track products in the solid waste and circular economy sector, with a focus on data and information.
  •  Support and coordinate the implementation of the data visualization tools in powerBI, infographics and on the website of the Solid Waste Hub and Circular Economy.
  •  Collect statistical data from the solid waste sector and circular economy for the countries of the region, as well as validate the data and its quality.
  •  Coordinate and support in the publication processes of products in the sector.
  •  Generate and lead alliances with entities and countries around information and data from the solid waste sector and circular economy. As well as coordination events and workshops.
  •  Maintain communication channels with relevant national authorities in the countries for invitations, new information required, governance, among others. Support email management of the Solid Waste Hub and Circular Economy.
  •  Prepare and lead in coordination with the Bank, dissemination and promotion activities of the Hub, as a key tool for improving sectoral information and the digital transformation of solid waste management and the circular economy
  •  Accompany and present the results in spaces that the Bank determines, including preparing the inputs such as presentations, documents, agendas, blogs, among others.
  •  Support the process of developing terms of reference for the hiring of individual consultants and consulting firms and the formalization of alliances.
  •  Support the process of reviewing and supervising consulting contracts for individual consultants and consulting firms. Prepare and edit technical notes and publications associated with the theme of the contract object
  •  I support the preparation of activities related to waste management for the sectoral week of the Water and Sanitation Division
  •  Support the preparation of documents and analyzes within the processes of preparation, review and supervision of operations and technical cooperations related to solid waste management, circular economy.

  •  Prepare and supervise technically projects and technical cooperations.

Payments will be made upon delivery to the satisfaction of monthly reports containing the results of the activities described above, according to an work schedule that is defined at the beginning of the execution of the contract.

This is what you need

  • Education: Master in Civil, Environmental, Industrial, Health, Logistics, Computer, Data Science, Systems, Data Science ( Engineering, Economics, Management, Statistics, Data Analytics, Data Scientist, quantitative analyst or equivalent. Mastery a plus.
  • Experience: Experience of at least ( 5 ) years with statistical management, indicators, high volumes of data and quantitative methods. Two ( 2 ) years of specific experience in solid waste management and / or circular economy is a plus.
  • Languages: Spanish and English, oral and written proficiency is required. It is preferred to have additional knowledge of French and Portuguese.
