This internship is part of an academic, professional or socio-professional training program, and must meet the conditions set by the Employment Market Supervisory Board (CSME). The duration of the internship, set by the tripartite agreement, is 6 to 12 months at 100%.

Contexte & Mission
Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent international medical and humanitarian organisation that provides care to people in need, to people affected by natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, beliefs or political affiliation (MSF Charter).
The Operations Department consists of desks (cells), an Operations Director, two Deputy Directors, assistants, as well as project managers and medical advisors. There are six cells, including 5 regular cells and an emergency desk. Each team is coordinated by a Program Manager (PM) supported by an Assistant Program Manager (APM). Each cell has one intern position. Desk 2 coordinates activities in Kenya, Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan/Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Ukraine and Armenia.
Main Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the cell manager (CM), the cell intern supports the operational cell as follows:
Operations (40%)
- Support to the Program Manager (PM) and his/her deputy (DPM) for context analysis
- Drafting and corrections of reports/intervention proposals, in conjunction with the RP/ARP
- Research on mission-specific themes (reports, evaluations, etc.)
- Summaries, compilations and layouts for internal and external presentations
- Specific support and monitoring according to the needs of the cell and the field, for example:
- Ordering maps and monitoring work in progress with MSF GIS unit
- Monitoring institutional donors: support for writing grant applications and final/annual reports
- Centralization of project management documents.
- Tracking legal registrations and renewals
Human resources and administration (40%)
- Support for the Operational Human Resources Manager (RHOp) according to the needs of the unit and the missions:
- Ensures the updating and provision of operational, HR and key mission documents for international staff (Welcome File and One drive)
- Organization of briefings (strategic documents, context, HR) and debriefings of expatriates and ensures their reception and orientation
- Participation in international staff briefings
- Follow-up of weekly HR points and preparation/participation in the weekly meeting with pool managers
Organizational tasks related to the operation of the Desk (20%)
- Focal point for Knowledge Management within the Unit, in charge of the Kompas software and its supply (archiving and updating of documents)
- Management and archiving of documents (HR, Ops, Log, Fin) on the central server
- Translation of documents according to needs and requests
- Minutes of various weekly or ad hoc meetings (MiniDesk, CoPro, etc.)
- Organization of events for the cell (interdesk, TC, green cell, training, etc.)
- Support for other cells as needed
- Participates in monitoring field visits by various stakeholders and centralizes information
- Preparation and monitoring of equipment intended for missions (management of “departure locker”)
Profile sought
- Be the beneficiary of an internship agreement
- Academic course, or according to federal professional integration measure: preferably Public Health, International Relations, Human Resources Management or management, law course or equivalent
- Proven interest in humanitarian aid
- Fluency in French and English (oral and written), other language an asset; excellent writing skills in French and English
- Team spirit, ability to collaborate with multicultural teams
- Priority management, proactivity, rigor, organization
- Good knowledge of the Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Internship conditions
- Mandatory tripartite internship agreement
- Internship 6 to 12 months at 100% (depending on the internship agreement)
- Based in Geneva, interviews in November 2024
- Start date: Mid-January 2025
- Gross monthly salary: CHF 2,000.-
