Duties andResponsibilities

Within limits of delegated authority, the Consultant on Making learning Accessible to Persons with Disabilities in UN Secretariat will be responsible for the following duties: – Conduct analysis of learning systems, products and services to determine the overall accessibility levels of learning opportunities at the UN Secretariat and draft recommendations for improvements. – Review and update guidance available in the Online Learning Framework toolkit to create accessible e-Learning solutions following Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). – In the context of the United Nations Disability Strategy, map learning opportunities and resources available for UN personnel, identify overlaps and gaps for content development.

Qualifications/special skillsAn advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in the fields of organizational development, behavioral science, business or public administration, human resources management, social psychology, social sciences, or related fields is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in instructional design, learning development, education or related area in an international setting is required. Experience in conducting learning needs assessments, including mapping of learning opportunities is required. Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and building trusted professional relationships with them is required. Experience in developing and assessing learning, training or skills development solutions for persons with disabilities following universal design principles and Web Content Accessibility Standards (WCAG) or similar is required. Experience with web accessibility testing using assistive technology (software) is desirable.

LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage
