RESPONSIBLE FOR RADIO PROFESSIONS At Farm Radio International


INTRODUCTION

NB: This contract is for one year renewable over three years with the possibility of extension to 5 years

The 5-year Tudituale project will increase the resilience of communities in Central Kasai Province in the DRC. Farm Radio International (RRI) is a member of the project consortium and leads communication work for social and behavioural change using interactive radio and other methods.

Overview of the position

Under the supervision of the team leader of the radio trades and the Coordinator of the project, the/the holder of the post S’ will ensure that all aspects of the radio crafts of the project are truly implemented, and, and this, according to the strictest standards. This includes the planning, facilitation and evaluation of’ radio programme design workshops, radio station trainings as well as quality assurance of interactive programmes produced by partner radio stations.

Assume the responsibilities relating to the radio trades in the DRC, mainly the Tudituale project

  • Plan, animate and evaluate, following the latest design method,’ workshops for the development of RRI’s key’impact programming messages
  • Finalize and submit for validation by the Chief of’ team of radio professions the plans of interactive radio programs for all stations involved in the projects of the’impact programming
  • To assess the skills of the stations involved in the RRI’impact programming project
  • Plan, animate and evaluate the station training offered to radios involved in the’impact programming project, following the latest RRI training method
  • Provide remote coaching to stations involved in RRI’s’impact programming projects, including holding production conferences
  • Listen to radio broadcasts and provide follow-up information to stations involved in RRI’s’impact programming project
  • Write reports on the workshops of’ elaboration of the key messages and the trainings in station
  • S’s ensure that’s key message development documents and station training plans are discussed and/or revised by the Radio Crafts Team Leader
  • Collaborate with the’ team of digital innovations (IN) to ensure that all interactive components (ICTs) of the’ impact programming project are planned, implemented and controlled
  • Share the lessons learned and observations of the activities of radio trades in the DRC for a permanent improvement of RRI methods
  • Contribute to the training, support and cooperation with community listening’ groups and advisory groups
  • Make regular trips around the country, as well as occasional trips to the’ outside
  • Participate in meetings, training and discussions with colleagues of Radio Trades of RRI located outside the DRC

Support the activities of other specialized teams

  • Support the Broadcasters’ Resources Department in its activities of’abonnement and distribution of resources as well as resource orientation sessions, etc.
  • Support the’ team of Digital Innovations to the implementation of the’interactions components necessary to achieve the project objectives.
  • Contribute to the activities of’ Monitoring, evaluation, research and learning team
  • Contribute to’ activities for the development of annual work plans and budget

Qualifications

  • University degree in radio journalism or a related field or equivalent work experience in a relevant field
  • Justify three (3) years of’experience in interactive and participatory training, as well as’en animation and mentoring
  • Five (5) years of’experience in production/broadcast of’radio broadcasts or in communication programs
  • High capacity to lead participatory initiatives, involving multiple stakeholders
  • Good knowledge of gender issues, the empowerment of women and girls, preferably in the sector of’agriculture and food security
  • Knowledge or experience in project management or project reporting
  • Knowledge or experience in monitoring and’assessment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills in French
  • Good command of French, with very good written and oral communication skills
  • Good oral skills of’ other DRC national languages and understanding of’english would be an asset
  • Good disposition to make frequent trips to the interior of the country or trips to other parts of the world
  • Good skills in the’ use of electronic communication tools, including the Windows package (word, excel, powerpoint, messaging, skype) as well as the Google platform
  • Good management skills and animation of’messaging tools (WhatsApp, etc.)
