SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an association of’ international humanitarian aid which, for more than 40 years, has been providing relief to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to the vital needs of, drinking, eating, s’abriter. Particularly engaged in the fight against diseases related to unhealthy’, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions an expertise in the field of’access to drinking’water,’sanitation and the promotion of hygiene but also in that, essential, food security and means of’. Present in more than 20 countries, the SI teams, 2500 people in total, composed of’expatriates, national staffs, permanent staff at headquarters, some volunteers…intervene with professionalism and commitment in respect of cultures.

THE MISSION

Solidarity International has been working in the DRC since 2001 to meet the humanitarian needs of people affected by conflict and natural disasters and to help fight epidemics. This is currently the third largest mission of the organization in terms of financial volume.

The mission is active in the fields of food security and means of’existence (SAME),’eau hygiene et seainissement (EHA), etc, and’assistance in multisectoral money transfers (direct cash or fairs via the Red Rose tool). Each of our activities include a strong Protection component (transverse or « stand alone » via a’implementation partner).
Our programs cover the’ emergency response, via rapid response programs (RRM) and « second line ». However, they also include rehabilitation and development activities in the stabilized areas of the country. This approach illustrates the strategy chosen by the mission, namely the maintenance of’a strong capacity for emergency response’ while developing sustainable solutions to the problems that affect the populations of the’est of the country.
The mission is composed of’a coordination based in Goma and three operational bases located in Little North Kivu (Goma, with a sub-base in Kiwandja), in the Far North Kivu (Beni) and in Ituri (Bunia, with a sub-base at Fataki). As part of our multi-year strategy, we have the’ ambition to open new bases and develop our programmatic portfolio. The financial volume of the mission is currently at 19 million’euros, with a target of progression during the year 2024.

ECHO 2774 /DV 2621 : Integrated EHA response and protection in consortium with SOFEPADI (National NGO)
FH 3231 = EHA emergency response and Agricultural recovery in consortium with FAEVU (National NGO)
AFD 2378 (in CoFi) = Capacity building project Civil society and local actors in prevention and response to epidemics (EHA) in consrtium with FAEVU (National NGO)
SDC 2795 = Multisectoral Assistance for populations affected by displacement (Resiliency project in SAME and EHA)

OFFER DESCRIPTION

General objective :

Accompaniment of the new Assistant to the Logistics Coordinator
Implementation of field framework contracts
Review of logistics procedures related to fairs
Internal control of the department
Setting up purchase schedules

Main Challenges :

Large purchase volume,
Emergency logistics (RRM),
Physical and security access constraints.

YOUR PROFILE

Training :

Master in international relations, development and humanitarian action and/or Logistics or Supply Chain

Technical experience and skills :

3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector
3-4 years of experience in a similar position
Management of the supply chain
Monitoring and renewal of large equipment stock
Mastery of technical concepts in telecommunications and IT
Team management
Strategic approach
Good management of stress

Languages :

French
English
Swahili

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

An salaried position : According to experience, from EUR 2600 gross per month (2860 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 800.

SI also covers accommodation and travel costs between the expatriate’s country of origin and the place of employment.

Breaks : During the mission, a system of alternation between work and leave is set up at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with USD 850 allocated by Solidarities International). In addition to these break periods, there is one additional day of rest per month worked.

Social and medical coverage: Expatriates receive insurance that reimburses all health costs (including medical and surgical expenses, dental and ophthalmological care, etc, repatriation) and a contingency system including war risks. Vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are reimbursed.

The security context remains volatile

Many inter-community conflicts
Many armed groups, depending on the territory
Logistical constraints due to roads that are difficult to use in rainy periods
Humanitarian access remains possible and our teams are able to deploy the interventions in sensitive areas. In addition, SI has developed a good community acceptance.
