Qualitative Researcher At Connecting Research to Development


Connecting Research to Development (CRD) is a think tank that operates in the support, generation, and dissemination of evidence-based research from combined perspectives of public health and social science in the Middle East and North Africa, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe. CRD was officially established in 2014. In close cooperation with its partners, the specific goal is to apply scientific innovative know-how and to transform evidence-based data into programmatic actions. International donors, UN agencies, INGOs, universities, local organizations, and government ministries rely thereby on CRD’s expertise and deep understanding of the research environment.

Tasks and Duties

  • Conduct qualitative research including literature review, research design, tool design, analysis and discussion, generation of recommendations and report write-up;
  • Serve as project coordinator on studies including communicating with partners and managing field work
  • Lead training on new projects and research tools with field teams
  • Conduct field research in the form of FGDs, KIIs, case studies, observations
  • Assist in business development including conceptualization of new research studies, proposal writing, and strategic planning
  • Organize project files, data, and documents
  • Attend meetings with project partners
  • Develop articles for publication
  • Undertake continuing professional development and participate in national and international workshops
  • Establish collaborative links with international professional organizations.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the CEO.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Health Promotion, Social Sciences, anthropology, or similar fields with a strong qualitative component is a must
  • At least 5-7 years of working experience in qualitative research in both humanitarian, and development sectors
  • Expertise in any of the following is advantageous: Community Health, Social Research, Education, Child/Social Protection, Youth, Human Rights; and monitoring and evaluation
  • Additional expertise in at least one of the following areas: livelihoods, social cohesion and stability
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working in MENA;
  • Experience in communicating with governmental bodies, international donor agencies, and INGOs is a must
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Collaborative and constructive team member
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, multitask, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong presentation and training skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office, Teams, and qualitative analysis software
