Organisational Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the Meetings Support Section (MSS), Meetings and Publishing Division (MPD), Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) at Headquarters, and the incumbent reports to the Chief of the Meetings Support Section.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Publishing Platforms Assistant will be responsible for the following duties
- Ensures the operational functioning of the Section’s publishing platforms, digital asset and content management systems. Provides a high level of accuracy, quality, and efficiency throughout the publishing workflow.
- Serves as the focal point for the Section to coordinate with internal technology service providers in the planning, specification, design, development, procurement and implementation and maintenance of applications.
- Engages with users to precisely define and specify requirements. Performs installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer application systems in user offices.
- Participates in the development, programming, testing, and implementation of new systems releases and functionalities.
- Prepares technical and user documentation for deployed computer application systems, as well as training materials, and conducts technical presentations. Provides technical advice, assistance and guidance for all system users.
- Assists in developing/refining support and operations procedures for relevant print, publishing and content management systems, including programming requirements and recommendations to users for the programming interfaces.
- Liaises with the Section’s publishing areas with a view to streamlining internal workflows and promoting automation and integration with digital publishing systems.
- Provides support on systems development matters, including cybersecurity and data backup and disaster recovery.
- Keeps abreast of developments in the field; conducts research on new technologies; performs benchmarking and proposes new acquisitions; assists in the implementation of new technologies.

EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Work ExperienceTen years of experience in information systems administration and maintenance, software development or related area is required. Experience with content management, print production or digital asset management systems is desirable.
LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
