Overview:

ICRW is seeking to hire the services of a Project Management specialist to work with the team on a short-term basis as a consultant.

Scope of the Assignment:

ICRW is implementing a project which seeks to address the systemic barriers that hinder women’s equal participation in the economy by developing and implementing a comprehensive National Care Policy. This initiative involves capacity building for the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action (SDfGAA), engaging stakeholders through policy dialogues, and raising public awareness about the gendered impacts of unpaid care work. The project will also document best practices and conduct a mid-term review of Kenya’s commitments to care work, ensuring that the policy is well-informed and widely supported.

Specially, the Project Management Specialist will coordinate the implementation of the ” Evidence-Based Policy for Advancing the Care Economy in Kenya” project. This role involves support in coordinating all project activities, communicate with stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of project outputs, and maintaining high standards of project management. The Project Management Specialist r will work closely with the ICRW project lead and project team to ensure the successful execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management:

  1. Maintain a detailed project plan, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  2. Ensure all project activities are executed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  3. Monitor and report on project progress, identifying any issues or risks and proposing solutions.

Stakeholder Coordination:

  1. Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including SDfGAA, UN Women, CSOs, WROs, and private sector partners.
  2. Facilitate regular communication and coordination among stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  3. Organize and lead project meetings, including steering committee meetings, technical working group sessions, and stakeholder consultations.

Activity Implementation:

  1. Coordinate the development and dissemination of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.
  2. Oversee the organization and facilitation of workshops, training sessions, policy dialogues, and validation meetings.
  3. Manage the execution of digital campaigns, media engagement, and bulk SMS messaging.

Reporting and Documentation:

  1. Prepare and submit regular project reports, including progress updates.
  2. Document lessons learned, best practices, and case studies throughout the project lifecycle.
  3. Ensure all project documentation is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  1. Support the implementation of project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plan to track project performance and impact.
  2. Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to measure progress against project objectives and indicators.
  3. Use M&E findings to inform project adjustments and improvements.

Key Outputs/Deliverables:

  • Detailed project plan with timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Regular progress reports, and final project reports.
  • Records of stakeholder meetings, including minutes and action items.
  • Documentation of workshops, training sessions, policy dialogues, and validation meetings.
  • M&E plan and regular assessment reports.
  • Analysis of project performance and impact, including lessons learned and best practices.

Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Advanced degree in project management, social sciences, public policy, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale projects, preferably in the field of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
  • Strong understanding of the care economy and gender issues in Kenya.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and coordinate diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.

Timeframe:

The assignment is expected to run from August 2024 to October 2025.
