Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Shelter and Settlements Specialist, and direct supervision of the Project Coordinator (Shelter and Settlements), and in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centres, the Project Coordinator will be responsible and accountable for providing technical, administrative, and logistical support to HQ projects related to rental assistance programming and support other relevant capacity building initiatives.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate the overall implementation of the Airbnb.org funded projects, including monitoring the budgetary, administrative, and technical aspects, in line with IOM’s policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements.
  2. Implement, maintain, or contribute to the improvement of relevant project management tools to support efficient implementation, and milestone tracking.
  3. As part of preparedness, engage with country offices to help identify potential implementing countries, and during implementation maintain regular communication, provide guidance, training, and troubleshooting support.
  4. Coordinate the allocation of project resources to country offices and maintain updated guidance and SOPs for each mission.
  5. Coordinate with relevant departments, including protection, legal, private sector engagement, media and communications, finance, etc., to facilitate compliance with donor and IOM requirements.
  6. Monitor project progress and the achievement of project milestones. Bring issues or delays to the prompt attention of the supervisor.
  7. Coordinate adequate information management for project-related activities, including beneficiary data management according to IOM policies, data collection and analysis for reporting, and other information management products such as factsheets, dashboards, etc., in close coordination with the donor and other relevant stakeholders.
  8. Draft quality progress Financial, Narrative, and other reports related to the project activities and support regular communication with donors.
  9. Undertake duty travel as required to monitor and support implementation of activities.
  10. Map and explore potential partnerships with relevant sector actors, the private sector(hotels, insurance providers, rental agents, etc.) for the expansion and improvement of rental accommodation support projects.
  11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Real Estate Management, Urban Management, Humanitarian Affairs, Economics, and other related fields in an accredited institution with two years of relevant professional experience, or,
  • University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, or related built environment profession is an asset.

Experience

  • Experience in project implementation, coordination and/or management.
  • Experience in developing training materials and/or delivering training.
  • Experience operating in crisis-settings and supporting vulnerable people.
  • Experience in engaging with donors and partners.
  • Experience in designing or implementing Shelter/Housing programming.
  • Multi-sectoral experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with different international organizations specialized in humanitarian or development assistance (e.g. UN agencies, INGOs, IOs, Donors, IFRC or ICRC) is an asset.
  • Experience in Market-Based interventions is an asset.
  • Previous experience in program reviews and evaluations is an asset.
  • Experience in coordinating inter-agency initiatives, working collaboratively to deliver tangible outputs, is an asset.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.

For this position, fluency in English and Spanish is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Portuguese and another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, and Russian) is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
