Organizational Setting

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has approved the Government of India’s GEF6 Green Ag. Project titled, “Green-Ag: Transforming Indian agriculture for global environmental benefits and the conservation of critical biodiversity and forest landscapes”.

The project objective is to catalyze transformative change for India’s agricultural sector to support achievement of national and global environmental benefits and conserve critical biodiversity and forest landscapes. The project is organized around two components. The first component strengthens the enabling framework and institutional structures to mainstream bio-diversity (BD), sustainable land management (SLM), climate change mitigation (CCM) and sustainable forest management (SFM) policies, priorities and practices into India’s agricultural sector. The second component demonstrates replicable “Improved agricultural and conservation practices” for sustainable production, resilient livelihood advancements, habitat improvements, and delivery of tangible BD, LD, CCM, and SFM benefits.

The project is being implemented in five landscapes: i) Chambal Landscape (Madhya Pradesh), ii) Dampa landscape (Mizoram), iii) Similipal Landscape (Odisha), iv) Desert National park Landscape (Rajasthan) and v) Corbett- Rajaji Landscape (Uttarakhand).

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in India and direct supervision of the National Technical Coordinator, the Project Assistant will undertake the following duties.

Tasks and responsibilities

The Project Assistant will assist the National Technical Coordinator (NTC), Green-Ag Project in the following tasks :

  •  Project planning in terms of devising strategies for the successful execution of the project.
  •  Regularly follow up with the State Operational Partners on his behalf.
  •  Finalize reports and presentations.
  •  Provide support in carrying out the day-to-day duties of the NTC
  •  Undertake web search on project related themes/ areas.
  •  Provide support in drafting correspondence.
  •  Draft meeting minutes and finalize them in coordination with other Technical Experts
  •  Prepare summary notes on project related themes/areas.
  •  Coordinate with other National Project Management Unit (NPMU) team members for delivery of their outputs and apprise the NTC on regular basis
  •  Perform any other duties requested by the National Technical Coordinator/ FAO Representative

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with a science background till XII standard
  •  Excellent working knowledge of English including writing skills.
  •  One year of experience as “Project Assistant” or as a Secretary
  •  Indian National.

Technical/Functional Skills

  •  Ability to structure and convey information in an appropriate and timely format, and ensure accuracy and consistency.
